Waffles 

I was making waffles this weekend,  and used the wrong spray to keep them from sticking, and as you can imagine it was a royal pain to clean off the batter that was stuck to nearly every indention on the four – sectioned  waffle grid.  But,  as I was cleaning and scraping off the mess,  it made me think.  This whole mess could have been avoided if only I would have not substituted and  used my go-to Pam instead of trying something new.    

We have a well proven, well tested source to use to keep the scrappy thoughts of anger, discontent, frustration, regret, sadness , anxiousness  etc.  from sticking in our minds. That source is God. If we wake up each day and allow God to spray us with his faithfulness,  truth, grace, promises, direction, wisdom and his love,  that is a lot of really good covering and protection from the sticky mess that the world is distracting us with.  

God is the one able to help us slide into the goodness , peace and joy of being positive in spite of circumstances and strong in the midst of being overwhelmed or feeling inadequate.  Instead of letting some of my most unfavorable thoughts get stuck into the groove of my thinking; If I truly am conscious of God and his unfailing provisions, then I am able to let whatever it is that is making me crazy slide right away.   There is stuff continually stuck in the grid of my mind, that does nothing but make a mess of what could be a clean batch of thoughts.  

It was just a hopeful morning breakfast.   But I was able to peel off some of the waffle pieces, and make the best out of crumbles… and then I tried again, and the result was much better.  We always have the ability to try again… no matter what the defeat has been. For lessons are learned everyday along our way, and sometimes it is in the messes that we learn some of God’s best lessons. When things around us and within us get sticky, it is God who can and does come and rescue us and lead us to better ways.  But we have to seek his ways and not settle for the world’s substitutions.  For nothing compares to having the Lord by your side and aware that he is constantly spraying you with his loving ways.      

Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation he has allowed you to be in...for his Glory will shine through!
