A Message from VP of Student Life and Mission | |
To the Carondelet Community,
Last week, campus was abuzz with Sisterhood Week events. Even though we had a mid-week pause due to a power outage on Winton, our school community enjoyed food sales, Heart/Faith/Courage/Excellence recognitions, and our St. Joseph’s Day liturgy. We were so blessed to host several CSJ Sisters to campus for our liturgy. It was a wonderful moment of in-person community solidarity and prayer with our CSJ Sisters and Associates that we haven’t been able to enjoy since 2019.
The bell schedule this week is a regular week with a late start on Wednesday. This upcoming week is a little quieter but there are still several events on campus. Several juniors will be heading out to Alliance Redwoods for our third Shalom retreat on Thursday. The final Shalom is on Monday through Tuesday of next week. If you are looking for a fun evening at the theater, the opening night of DLS/Carondelet’s Company production of Xanadu is this Thursday. You can purchase tickets to the show here.
Bubbles and Brews is back on this Thursday, March 23 as well. This is a fun 21+ event where our alumnae, parent, and extended family community can gather, socialize, relax, and celebrate. Learn more about the event and register here.
As we continue our season of reflection this Lent, I hope that this week is full of moments of grace and connection.
Blessings,
Jennifer Reinwald
Vice Principal of Student Life and Mission

Driving & Parking Lot Reminders
We urge everyone to prioritize safety and exercise caution when driving to and from school and through our parking lot. Between our two schools, we have nearly 2,000 cars entering and exiting our lots daily, with the majority of cars being student drivers. We ask all of our drivers to drive slowly and safely; allow extra time while coming and going; stay off phones and other devices; and follow the directions of staff members on Winton Drive.
2023-24 Parking Permit Requests
Parking Permit requests for next school year will open up the week of April 24. In general, the vast majority of rising junior and senior students who have valid licenses before the start of the school year, receive parking spaces in our lot. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate sophomore students or junior students who get their license mid-year. If you have any questions about parking, please connect with Caitlin Main, Dean of Students.

New Contra Costa Health Protocols
-
New COVID protocols have been released by Contra Costa Health as of March 14, 2023. Since Governor Newsom ended the state of emergency order, protocols in terms of return to school have been adjusted. Here are the new protocols:
- If a student or employee is experiencing symptoms with or without a positive test, they should stay home until feeling better.
- When a student or employee tests positive for COVID, they should isolate at home for 5 days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms or the date of the positive test).
-
Report illness and absence: students will reach out to Attendance. Employees will reach out to the Director of Human Resources and their supervisor.
-
A negative test after day 5 is no longer required to return to school as long as symptoms are improving and there has been no fever without the use of fever-reducing medicine for 24 hours.
- Everyone who is returning to school should wear a mask on days 6-10.

(Hey, it's 1980) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.

Lenten Project - Relief for Refugees
Last month, Turkey and Syria were deeply impacted by three devastating earthquakes. Thus, we are focusing our Lenten project on aid to refugees. We are partnering with World Relief in Sacramento to collect household items to help families resettle in a new home. A list of suggested items is posted on the website and displayed in each fifth-period classroom. Students are asked to turn in donations in the Lenten Project boxes in their fifth period class. For parents and families who would like to make larger donations, like furniture and appliances, please check out World Relief’s Amazon Wishlist (donations purchased through this Amazon wishlist will ship directly to their location in Sacramento).
