Rejoicing in New Opportunities

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!" (Psalms 95:2)

Happy New Year! It’s incredible how quickly time seems to pass, with each year moving faster than the last. As we reflect on 2024, we’re proud of the many accomplishments we’ve achieved together. One of our most significant milestones was the launch of Living Stones’ newest Sunday meal location. On December 1st, we had the joy of serving our first meal to our South Side neighbors—a moment worth celebrating!

Over the past year, we’ve fostered a meaningful partnership with Mary, Queen of Peace Parish, driven by shared goals of combating food insecurity and building social connections. We’re profoundly grateful to the Parish for initiating this collaboration and providing us with a welcoming space to extend our reach. Our inaugural meal gathered nearly 60 neighbors, creating a heartwarming atmosphere filled with blessings. Moving forward, we’re thrilled to serve meals at the Mary, Queen of Peace Parish Community Center in the South Side on the first Sunday of every month.

This achievement also garnered special recognition from the City of Pittsburgh, which issued a proclamation declaring December 1, 2024, as "Living Stones Day." It was an incredible honor to accept this proclamation before City Council and share a message about the impactful work Living Stones is accomplishing throughout our community. As we step into 2025, let us celebrate with gratitude for every volunteer, supporter, and neighbor who has been part of this journey. Your unwavering dedication and compassion have been the driving force behind our success. This achievement belongs to you, and together, we’ll continue to bring hope, connection, and nourishment to those who need it most.

Living Stones fosters the cultivation of relationships with neighbors who join us for meals. As relationships develop and deepen, Living Stones volunteers come alongside those individuals and families to assist them in navigating the challenges in their lives and encourage them to find hope in Christ as they learn to trust Him.
