Faith and Environment Weekly

Legislation Encourages Green
Energy Vehicles

Breakthrough legislation will slow Global Warming
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Joe Manchin announced a deal on an energy and health care bill, investing $369 billion in energy and climate change programs, with the goal of reducing US carbon emissions by 40% by 2030. Clean energy tax credits will drive the majority of those emission reductions, including electric vehicles. Electric Vehicle tax credits will continue at their current levels, up to $4,000 for a used electric vehicle and $7,500 for a new EV. And there will be a lower income threshold for people who can use the tax credits.

But it will face furious GOP opposition. The deal still faces multiple hurdles before it can make it to Biden's desk, including the parliamentarian and having to pass both chambers of Congress.

The bill also includes $52 billion in US semiconductors manufacturing, Medicare drug price negotiation provisions, and extends the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies for three years. This bill will cut the inflation taxes Americans are paying, lower the costs of health insurance and prescription drugs, and ensure our country invests in the energy security and climate change solutions we need to remain a global superpower through innovation rather than elimination. Democratic Sen. Tina Smith of Minnesota said the agreement was the "most significant action on climate and clean energy we've ever taken."

The Takeaway: Climate Change legislation will reduce US carbon footprint substantially. Please tell your congressmen / congresswomen and senators to support this legislation.
The September/October issues of the Upper Room Devotional and the Daily Bread are available for pick up on the Gathering Area Information Display Board.
VISIONING TEAM - 2022

Faith United's Visioning Team believes our best days are ahead of us! We believe that God is doing a new thing, casting a renewed vision for us and we want to hear from you about what that vision might include! We started sharing some of our hopes and dreams for the future of our church on the gathering area whiteboard.
We invite you to continue to share your ideas in person, on the whiteboard, or electronically via google form.

As you consider God's vision for our church, we invite you to keep God's mission for the Church in mind: to be, make, and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Consider, "How can we reach new, younger, and more diverse people?" We also recommend reading “God’s Mixed Ecology” – a 13-page article to help us think in new ways with visioning.
Sunday School activities are in the Gathering Area weekly between worship services.

Celebrate Wonder home activities are available in the weekly worship emails for Nursery-5th Grade. Pick 1-2 activities to do and learn and wonder about God together. View each week's Bible story and music videos on Amplify Media which has special videos for kids! Follow these steps to register or contact Kathy Schmucker.

For the safety of our children and youth, our Safe Sanctuary Policy asks that parents/guardians complete an emergency form for children (birth through high school graduation) participating in church activities each year. Designate the activities your child has permission to participate in so you only need to complete one form for the year.
3rd Grade Bible Presentation - September 11
If you have a child entering 3rd Grade this fall, please let us know as soon as possible so we can gift them with a Bible!
Contact Kathy Schmucker, Faith United’s Spiritual Formation Director for more information.
