GHIAA: THE GREATER HARTFORD INTERFAITH ACTION ALLIANCE
Have you ever felt like you would like to make a difference in some of the social justice issues troubling our world, but you just don’t know where to begin? We hear almost every day about the many problems going on in our communities. It is easy to get overwhelmed just thinking about them – homelessness, the lack of affordable housing, unequal funding for education in our poorest cities and towns, to name just a few. We find ourselves asking, “What can I do?” We don’t know where to begin.
The Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance, or “GHIAA,” exists to help us answer that very question. GHIAA, an alliance of more than 50 faith-based communities (including Trinity Church), provides detailed guidance on how we can make our voices heard on issues of social justice.
Please plan to join us in the Library on September 29 following the Eucharist to learn how GHIAA works. We will be joined by Marika Stewart, our GHIAA support person. She will share more about the GHIAA process and our congregation’s involvement.

Immigration: Welcoming the Sojourner
Among the many political and moral issues swirling around us especially in this election season, immigration is often at the top in the news cycle. At Trinity we for decades have been engaged with immigration, welcoming and sponsoring refugees, immigrants, temporary residents on visas and undocumented neighbors.
In our after-church Forum at 11:30 on Sunday, October 6, let’s explore our country’s traditions, the moral issues, the variety of statuses for non-citizens, the current immigration realities, government policies and programs and how they work (and don’t), and what we can do in “welcoming the sojourner.” Our Forum will be led by Drew Smith.

New Education for Ministry Group Forming for 2024-25
The EfM group that meets at St. James’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford is looking for folks who want to read and reflect on scripture, explore and nurture their faith, and their call to the Christian life and service where they live, work and play—all in small group setting of 6 to 12 people, studying, conversing, exchanging our experiences as articulate seekers of God in our daily lives. The program is structured by the University of the South School of Theology and administered at the parish level. For more information, contact Ron Ward, group mentor.

GHIAA Assemblies
Please save the date for an upcoming GHIAA (Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance) assembly!
Major Public Assembly: 2025 Campaign Launch
Thursday, November 21, 6:30-8:30 pm
Weaver High School, 415 Granby St., Hartford
Remember the 2022 Power Summit? We will gather again with hundreds of leaders from across our region to ground ourselves in our shared values, to launch our new slate of issue campaigns, and to seek public commitment from elected officials and power brokers. This is a significant public action and a chance to demonstrate GHIAA’s power to win on the issues that matter in our lives. Turnout from every GHIAA institution will be essential! Stay tuned for updates from your organizer.

Trinity Book Club
Looking for an informative and entertaining summer book? Try Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson! It's "a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all." The date for our gathering to discuss The Ministry of the Future has changed: we will meet on October 11 at 7 pm at the home of Heather Kramer.
