*Following a Women's Bureau led table-top discussion with Robin Runge to continue the conversation on the Convention 190
How does a company prioritize and seek out and train women and BIPOC for leadership roles while keeping in mind the challenges they face and the importance of mentoring and advocating for them in these roles within organizations. We will discuss the strategies for creating more opportunities and pathways including offering leadership training programs, providing access and creating a culture that values and rewards diversity and inclusivity.
The presentation will discuss the psychological phenomena known as “Negativity Bias”. Through a great deal of research, self-reflection, and practical application, the presenter has created some parallels between occupational safety and how it is understood within organizations, and the negativity bias. The objective of this presentation is to educate the audience on negativity bias and how it could be impacting their safety programs, and how to recognize it and intervene.
This session is designed to help women, and men who are allies, understand the importance of self-advocacy and develop strategies to effectively promote their needs, ideas, and ambitions in the workplace. Participants will understand the basics of how to build their network, provide direct feedback, negotiate effectively, and build a strong personal brand that showcases their strengths and achievements.
Led by an experienced advocate for women's empowerment, by the end of this session, participants will identify core components of self-advocacy and walk away with tools to advocate for themselves, or others, effectively in the workplace.
