RISE Up Worker Culture Panel
Moderated with Maxwell Brown
When it comes to construction jobsites, the culture can play a significant role in ensuring the safety and well-being of workers while also promoting productivity and efficiency. However, there are often challenges and issues that arise that can impact workers' rights and overall job satisfaction. In this panel discussion, we will explore the topic of construction jobsite culture and workers' rights and discuss strategies for creating a positive and safe work environment

Safety and Negative Bias
Justin Molocznik; Safety Director with JTM Construction

The presentation will discuss the psychological phenomena known as “Negativity Bias”. Through a great deal of research, self-reflection, and practical application, the presenter has created some parallels between occupational safety and how it is understood within organizations, and the negativity bias. The objective of this presentation is to educate the audience on negativity bias and how it could be impacting their safety programs, and how to recognize it and intervene.

Empowering Women: The Art of Self-Advocacy
Jessica Garcia, Lavela Coaching

This session is designed to help women, and men who are allies, understand the importance of self-advocacy and develop strategies to effectively promote their needs, ideas, and ambitions in the workplace. Translating DEI As A Crew Leader
Facilitated by Kabri Lehrman-Schmid; Project Superintendent with Hensel Phelps
Foremen, crew leads, and superintendents are in the ideal position to influence change in our industry. With construction’s increased focus on mental health, inclusion initiatives and psychological safety, field leadership is expected to carry forward corporate message and resources to their crews. Yet, the industry has historically promoted field leaders without the proper leadership training to take on this responsibility. Join us in a discussion with field leaders who have identified the training gaps, experienced industry change from a jobsite perspective and found success sharing DEI initiatives with their crews.
