On Friday, June 3rd, the City of Cleveland Heights held a Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the Denison Park Playground, 1015 Quarry Drive, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44121.

The Denison Park Playground is designed for children ages 5-12 and was last updated in 2002. The new playground was made possible, in part, through a grant from DWA GameTime, the vendor for Denison Park’s playground equipment.

Last year, Cleveland Heights City Council approved the capital improvement for a 2022 installation of a new playground at Denison Park. While the playground’s original swing base remains, the entire playground unit has been replaced. All remaining fixtures from the old playground have been repainted, and the City of Cleveland Heights placed 230 cubic yards of mulch at a depth of 12 inches throughout the playground to help keep children safe.

The Hillcrest-Heights Community Market kicked-off this week and you can enjoy the market every Thursday, from 4:00-8:00 pm, through October 13th.

The Cities of Cleveland Heights and South Euclid have partnered with Food Strong and Care-A-Van to bring together farmers, makers, and advocacy groups to serve the residents of Cleveland's east side suburbs.

Cleveland Heights Mayor Kahlil Seren recently joined host Jing Lauengco on her Next Thing with Jing podcast.

According to the podcast's website, Jing Lauengco is a Brand Strategist, Chief Optimist, and the Filipina Founder of Other Brown Girl.

Meet Cleveland Heights' new Chief of Police Christopher Britton at a "Meet Your Chief" Community Meeting that will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 6:30 pm at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Boulevard.

Chief Britton will talk about his background, his approach to policing, and his plans for making Cleveland Heights an even safer place to live, work and visit. He also will answer questions from the public.

The Cedar Fairmount Special Improvement District (SID) has kicked off its SummerFEST, featuring concerts, yoga classes and historical walks.

As a part of SummerFEST, the District will host TWO CONCERTS EACH MONTH during June, July, and August in the parking lot on Grandview Avenue behind Firestone on Cedar Road. All concerts will take place from 6:30–8:00 pm.

The first SummerFEST concert featured nationally renowned klezmer band, Yiddishe Cup, on Thursday, June 9^th.

On July 13th and August 10th, Green Tara Yoga & Healing Arts will host YOGA IN THE LOT from 6:30–7:15 pm. If you’d like to participate, please register in advance and bring your own yoga mat.

And on July 21st and August 4th, Ken Goldberg, President of the Cleveland Heights Historical Society and member of the Cleveland Heights Landmark Commission, will host HISTORIC WALKING TOURS of the Cedar Fairmount District from 6:30–8:30 pm. If you’d like to participate, please meet Ken at the parking lot on Grandview Avenue at 6:30 pm.

Coventry Village and Safer Heights will hold their 3^rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration supporting black-owned businesses and artists on Sunday, June 19^th.

The Coventry Juneteenth Celebration is led by local black artists/organizers and is for the WHOLE neighborhood to celebrate the freedom and contributions of the black community in Cleveland Heights and beyond!

The next City Council meeting will be Tuesday, June 21, at 7:30 pm, following the Council Committee of the Whole meeting, which will be held at 6:30 pm.

Both meetings will be streamed live and may be viewed on the City's YouTube channel. The agenda may be found on the City's website.
