Contact Information
Contact Information- Please keep phone numbers for contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts updated in Infinite Campus. For safety reasons, it is important that we be able to contact you or another responsible adult.
Safe Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival- Students should not arrive before 7:15 am to Marquette. Our staff starts their work day at 7:15 am, so there is no supervision available before this time. We want to make sure our students are safely supervised and have a safe location during inclement weather.
Dismissal- When students are dismissed they should head straight to their after school location or bus. Teachers work to have all students out of the building promptly. If you are picking up your child please be at Marquette by 2:40. If students are not picked up at the end of dismissal, then we will ask them to come into the office as most staff ends their day at 2:47 pm. Our school office closes at 2:55 pm. Therefore, we do not have staff supervision for students. If students are not picked up after school we will make every effort to contact the family or emergency contacts. If necessary, we may call Child Protective Services or Madison Police Department for assistance.
The playground is not supervised by school staff after dismissal. Students should be with an adult to supervise if they are staying after school to play. If students are walking or biking alone, then we ask them to check in at home or at a friend's house before returning to the playground. This allows us to ensure that all students have connected with a safe and responsible adult at the end of the day.
Please be aware that O'Keeffe dismisses at 1:55 pm on Monday and 2:55 Tuesday through Friday. Please do not rely on a middle school sibling to pick up a Marquette student as they will not be dismissed in time.
Please make after school plans with your child before they come to school. This includes play dates. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and if you need to change an after school plan during the school day, please call the school office. At the end of the day, we ask students to follow the plan they agreed upon with an adult at home.
If you need after school care then, Red Caboose and Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center are common providers used by Marquette families.
Drive Safely
As the school year approaches please make the safety of children a priority as you drive through school zones. This is especially important during arrival and dismissal times when there are more pedestrians, cyclists, buses, and cars in the area. Please review the Marquette/O'Keeffe Traffic Safety plan. We appreciate your efforts in keeping all our students safe!
Please also read this important safety information from our MMSD crossing guards.
Crossing Guards
The crossing guards will be at Jennifer/Thornton and Williamson/Thornton. We are waiting to hear the time adjustment for the earlier start and end time.
Currently, they do not have enough crossing guards to staff the crossing at Atwood and Division. It is recommended that scholars use the pedestrian/bike lane crossing at Dunning Street to take them across all the lanes of Atwood and Eastwood.
Report an Absence
The procedure for excusing students from virtual learning includes using the MMSD online form, or phone call to the school attendance line 608-204-3233.
Contact Information
Please keep phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses for contacting parents/guardians updated in Infinite Campus. It is important that we be able to contact you during the school day. You can call the office at anytime to update this information.
School Visitors
At this time MMSD is not permitting school visitors inside school buildings. Our office will still be able to assist you as needed. We will also have a cart outside available to assist with dropping off and picking up materials.
Immunizations
Is your child up to date on routine back-to-school vaccines?
We know COVID-19 has disrupted routine well-child doctor visits. Unfortunately, this means many children are currently behind on receiving vaccines and need to get caught up so they aren't excluded from school by state law.
To enter 4K and for all children 4-6 years old, students are required to be current on their booster shots for:
DTaP
Polio
MMR
Chicken pox vaccine
Incoming 6th grade students are required to receive the following vaccines:
Tdap booster
HPV
Meningococcal
If you're unsure if your child is current on their vaccines, you can check the Wisconsin Immunization Registry, or call your child's healthcare provider. To get your child caught up, make an appointment with their healthcare provider soon.
By law, students who are not current on these vaccines by Friday, October 15, must have a religious or personal waiver on file or they must be excluded from school for 10 days (October 16-October 25). We don't want that to happen!
To summarize, here is what you need to do:
Check to see if your child is current on vaccinations required for school.
If not, make an appointment with your child's healthcare provider.
If you do not plan to vaccinate your child, contact your school nurse right away to sign a personal or religious waiver.
Children 12 years and over are eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC recommends that eligible children are vaccinated to prevent serious illness and death from the COVID-19 virus. Please consult with your child's healthcare provider about getting the vaccine for your child.
Help us protect children by doing what you can to get your child caught up on the recommended vaccines today!

Food Service and Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
This school year, all MMSD students will receive free meals under the Summer Seamless Option program (SSO). The USDA has extended the flexibility for school districts to provide free meals to students, and MMSD has elected to participate in this program. All students are eligible for meals at no charge, provided that states continue to make free and reduced-price free and reduced priced meal applications available.
Under the Seamless Summer Option Program, schools will continue to collect and process household applications for free and reduced-price school meals. The School Food Authority (SFA) must make the USDA Free and Reduced-Price Meal application available to households, as usual, to certify children for free and reduced-price meal eligibility status.
A student's free and reduced-price meal eligibility is not required for free school meals through SSO, but it establishes eligibility for other benefits, such as state reporting, Wisconsin School Day Milk Program, and P-EBT. SFAs that collected household applications prior to October 1, 2021, are required to conduct verification, as usual.
