What a month! Thanks to all who warmly welcomed me into your sewing worlds. Last month started with a week-long SCHMETZ tour that began in Denver with stops in Nebraska and Iowa before returning to the Chicago area. That was 1,000+ miles of driving! Along the way, I visited my Dad, gave personal sewing trunk shows, and lectured at the awesome Nebraska Quilt Company and ASG Cedar Rapids, IA. I stood in awe of Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s impressive and bold Option Expedition exhibition at the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE. Even my non-sewing friends enjoyed the colorful exhibit pausing them to broaden their perspective to non-traditional quilts.
Last week in Detroit I vended and gave a SCHMETZ presentation at Bernina University. Bernina dealers wanted to know more about the newest SCHMETZ needles … and they were excited while abuzz with the introduction to the new top-of-the-line Bernina 990.
June has been a delightful month, and it is not over yet. When you receive this newsletter, I will be in the Quad Cities, IA. Many of you know author, lecturer, former machine dealer, and dynamo Rita Farro. Rita used to write for SCHMETZ Inspired to Sew and continues to post for FB/SCHMETZneedles on weekends. Last year, Rita took on a “part-time” job as Executive Director of the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire, IA. This weekend, she is hosting Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West weekend. So, don’t be surprised if you see us on FB among horses, Buffalo Bill, and Annie Oakley as we wear upcycled garments representing western or near-western garb.
Throughout this entire year, SCHMETZ continues to deliver not only personal friends but a world of friendship that loves to sew and quilt. My SCHMETZ travels in July take me on a four-day road trip in Wisconsin, then I need some time off. Maybe I’ll see you along the way. Check my updated schedule below. Thanks for being part of my stitch world with SCHMETZ!
