Learning to Worship: Step #3: Praise Him For His Past Faithfulness
"He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate."
Psalm 111:4
praise_the_lord.jpg
Verse 4: "He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate."

The Net Bible translates this verse: "He does amazing things that will be remembered; the Lord is merciful and compassionate."

In the last part of verse 4 he magnifies the Lord's person and character with 2 words. The Lord is: (1) "gracious" and (2) "compassionate."

Words burst forth in worship and praise of our great God, because of His faithfulness, uprightness, and holiness. He is awesome! He is gracious. He is compassionate. He is faithful. He is just. He is trustworthy. These are the sentiments of the psalmist and should be ours as well.

"God can take a lowly vessel, Shape it with His mighty hand, Fill it with a matchless treasure, Make it serve a purpose grand." (Bosch, Our Daily Bread, April 3, 2007)

Lord, I love you, I worship you, I adore you this morning.

Welling up in my heart once again is the hymn we have sung before, "How Great Thou Art!" Please join me in singing verses 3 and 4:
And when I thin that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin!

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration And there proclaim,
my God, how great Thou art!
Refrain
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
