CCF Faculty Affiliate Receives NSF Grant to Transform Developmental Science Online
Dr. Candice Mills, associate professor of psychology and CCF faculty affiliate, recently received a three-year, $1.25 million grant from the National Science Foundation to develop an online, scalable meta-science platform to investigate cognitive development in young children. Building off of childrenhelpingscience.com, and other sites where families can participate in online research, the project will collect large and diverse samples of data in many studies over time, allowing researchers to reach diverse populations and collaborate in new ways. Results will have implications for improving theoretical models of cognitive development and education and launch discipline-wide opportunities for innovative, representative, and open research. Congratulations Dr. Mills! Read More...

“One thing that I am excited to learn about in this project is how different cultures affect immigrant children or those with immigrant parents and how it helps them develop their own unique perspective of society and the world.”
Melissa Ulloa
“I am eager for the opportunity to interact with children and parents; equally, I am thrilled to learn about influential factors in child development and behavior!”

CCF in West Dallas
The Center for Children and Families recently joined the newly remodeled West Dallas Multipurpose Center, a space providing social services for families in West Dallas, for their Back to School event in August. We are formulating plans to provide our Play With Me program there in 2022. Families there seemed eager to participate. Stay tuned!
From the Director
We are in the swing of the Fall semester and have been meeting in-person safely for classes, research, and our Fall Play With Me programs--taking necessary precautions and implementing safety measures. It has been delightful working with our NSF-REU students, learning from them, and introducing them to our Play With Me program and faculty research. Hopes and plans for more in-person programs in the Spring 2022 are in the works, with hoped-for support from pending grants from local foundations and from our many individual supporters. We wish you all the best as we continue navigating the pandemic and balancing our desires to get back to 'normal'. Please stay safe.
