June is Disability Pride Month!

July is Disability Pride Month and the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Now more than ever, we need to fight for disability rights and justice and consider the experiences of those with multiple marginalized identities.

15% of the world's population has some form of disability. They

are nearly 3x more likely to be subjected to sexual violence.

Every hot-button issue of our present moment drastically impacts people with disabilities. Combatting ableism and fighting for people with both visible and nonapparent disabilities need to be a consistent part of our activism.

2022 Conference Reflection

Be sure to save the date and join us for next year's conference, June 20-22, 2023!

We're still feeling inspired and hopeful after our annual conference last week! We learned that growing our collective future cannot occur without discomfort, and this discomfort is necessary for growth and to challenge a legacy of oppressive systems and practices.

Habeebah Rasheed Grimes asked us to envision ways in which we, as a collective, continue to center healing, even in moments without justice.

Mira Yusef reminded us that self care is a part of community care and that our collective future can include more intentional self-care, intentional listening and action, and exploring what justice really is.

Indiana Disability Justice reminded us that diverse communities are better for everyone, and that the more we interconnect ourselves and agencies together, the more powerful, effective, and independent our communities become.

Our workshop presenters invited us to explore how our future can look when we take care of our colleagues and survivors in more intentional ways—to truly care for each other

Thank you for believing in the power of a great imagining. We feel honored to have been in community with you all and to receive knowledge from intentional, wise, educators.
