New Advocacy Toolkit

With a provincial election taking place in Saskatchewan this fall, the coming months are a critical time for library advocacy.

With that in mind, SLA's Advocacy & Development Committee is excited to launch its new Advocacy Toolkit! This toolkit has been created with the goal of helping you and your library better advocate for itself in your community and to your elected officials or electoral candidates.

This toolkit is intended to reflect and be useful to all types of libraries in the province, and anyone is welcome to use, customize, or distribute these resources!

New Summer Rider Reading Challenge

SLA is teaming up with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation to bring you an exciting new summer reading challenge, with the goal of inspiring children to have fun reading during the summer!

The Summer Rider Reading Challenge runs from July 11 to August 29, 2024, with registration for the challenge opening on July 11. While this challenge is open to people of all ages, it is aimed at children ages 14 and under.

SLA has sent out challenge posters and bookmarks to participating public library regions, and regions will be passing these materials on to their branches. At the end of the contest, the participating library branch with the most accumulated minutes will win a Rider party with Gainer, special activities and great food!
