The Prince George’s County Food Equity Council (FEC) Expands Healthy Food Access with New Cold Storage Trailers 

In July, the FEC, an initiative of IPHI, unveiled three refrigerated trailers that were a part of a $315,000 investment by Washington Gas. The trailers will support food security by increasing food storage capacity, reducing food waste, and creating sustainable infrastructure to respond to future food system disruptions. Read More.
IPHI Awarded $1 Million for CHWs and COVID response in DC and Prince George’s County
 
IPHI was awarded $1 million from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to increase COVID-19 vaccinations in Washington, DC and in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The funding will be used to hire community health workers to engage with the community to improve vaccine rates. 

August is Immunization Month
 
IPHI and ImmunizeVA are celebrating in several ways.  
 
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam kicked off the month with the governor’s proclamation. The team hosted a coloring contest to color the mascot, Tracker. The team also closed out the month with a press conference with the governor. 

IPHI and MCPS Release COVID-19 Wellness Assessment  

IPHI partnered with the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to build the local school wellness council’s capacity to reduce childhood obesity and to improve student wellness. The report offers recommendations to support local school wellness councils in an ever-changing environment.
