Exciting news and upcoming events...

Some of you may have heard through the grapevine, so this is for those who haven't. At our September Board Meeting, the Trustees voted to offer me the full-time position as our Library Director. I happily accepted!

Over our 86 year history, Mercer Library has only had 4 librarians and I'm honored and thrilled to join the ranks of this fairly exclusive group. Serving as your Interim Director gave me an amazing chance to learn more about the library and these past three months have been some of the most exciting and rewarding (and maybe a little overwhelming) days.

Exciting news aside, I want to give a special thanks to all of our volunteers and sponsors who made this year's Fall Celebration so wonderful. To everyone who was able to attend, I hope you had a wonderful time and we see you again next year. We have some upcoming events I want to highlight, so keep on reading!

History Walk with Library Assistant Blaze!

Blaze is talking us on another history walk through life in Mercer, but this time we're going to look at the seedier sides of life. On Friday, September 27 from 1:30pm - 2:30pm, meet Blaze at the Historical Depot for a walk on the wilder sides of Mercer's history highlighting former locations tied to crime and nefarious activities!

The tour will contain adult content including the tale of a real life murder mystery involving crime, moonshine, fist fights, court cases, and motorcycles. In the case of bad weather, the presentation will be held indoors at the Mercer Library.

Our September "Taste Test" is lavender!

This month's Taste Test kit features lavender, an ingredient used in baking and mixed drinks. These kits are a fun and free way to try something new, and they're free thanks to support from the Friends of the Mercer Public Library.
