The Measure C Senior Scrip Program is operated by the Fresno Council of Governments (Fresno COG) and funded with local transportation funds made available through the extension of Measure C (a voter-approved ½ cent tax on sales). Since 2008, the Senior (Taxi) Scrip Program has been providing transportation for seniors 70 and older living in the Fresno County region, at a 75% discount!

FAST FACTS

New Option To Pay By Credit Card: Measure C Senior Scrip added a feature that allows seniors, or their family members, to purchase Senior Scrip online with a credit card. You may go online to www.seniorscrip.org to purchase Scrip or call Fresno COG staff who may purchase it for you over the phone. (Senior Scrip is needed to pay the drivers – Paper scrip to taxi drivers and E-scrip to Lyft-Uber drivers.)

GoGoGrandparent provides access to Lyft and Uber rides:

In July 2019, the Measure C Senior Scrip Program added Lyft and Uber as ride options, entering into a partnership with GoGoGrandparent (GGG) to help seniors book the rides. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week, GGG assists Senior Scrip users to schedule and monitor their trips with Lyft and Uber so seniors don’t need to use a smartphone or computer to use the service.

Q&As

How do I book a Lyft or Uber ride?

You simply call GoGoGrandparent at 1(855) 464-6872. GGG will find a driver and will let you know the name, make of car and the time when that driver will show up at your door or pickup location.

How do I pay for a Lyft or Uber ride? Important! Prior to calling for a ride, you must have purchased E-scrip from Fresno COG. Fresno COG will allow GGG access to the amount of Senior Scrip that you purchase. At the conclusion of each trip, GGG transmits an electronic payment to the driver’s bank account. No exchange of any type of payment is done between the Senior Scrip User and the driver. Simply stated, seniors purchase the scrip from Fresno COG and GGG helps seniors to spend it on trips with Uber and Lyft.

How do I know the cost of my trip or the balance of my E-scrip account?

At the conclusion of each trip, GGG emails an itemized receipt to the email address you have listed. If no email address is provided, you can call GGG or Fresno COG with questions about any specific trip or trips or to find out the balance of your account.

Do I need to give up using taxis when I start using Lyft and Uber?

No. You can use either type of ride option (taxis or Lyft and Uber) at your discretion, as long as you have the right type of scrip to pay for the ride that you choose. Each month you have the option to purchase up to 100 scrips of your choice to add to your balance of E-scrip or Paper scrip

CURRENT ALERTS!

Have you been told by GoGoGrandparent or taxi companies that a ride is not available when you need to travel? Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID19, there really are fewer drivers available to service our Senior Scrip users. But don’t despair. Things are gradually improving and more and more rides are becoming available again

Here are some helpful tips for booking rides during the pandemic:

  • Call for a ride at least 40-45 minutes in advance.
  • When calling 1-855-464-6872 for a Lyft or Uber ride, make sure to select Option 6 (for the operator). The operator may be able to help you avoid a high (“surge”) fare imposed by Lyft and Uber that occurs when there is a high demand for rides and not enough available drivers.
  • When calling for a taxi, use the updated list of available taxi service providers. Call Fresno COG at 233-4148 to request an updated taxi list.

  • ALERT! Do NOT call “Taxi Service”, (phone number 222-2223). Taxi Service is no longer providing Senior Scrip service.
  • ALERT! Do NOT call or hail Scrip Taxi”. This taxi company is not associated with the Measure C Senior Taxi Scrip program.
