Seasonal Attire

On Monday, October 31, we encourage students and staff to celebrate the season by wearing seasonal attire. Clothing featuring jack o' lanterns, spiders, bats, black cats, etc., is encouraged! Please note that students are not permitted to wear costumes to school.

Ensuring Safety at Dismissal

We understand that the parent pick up line can take quite a while and we appreciate your patience with our process that provides an orderly and safe dismissal from the courtyard.  Some parents have expressed concerns regarding safety when students are dismissed as walkers and then walk to a car waiting in the parking lot.  The concerns center around both students walking by and between cars in the pick up line as well as cars cutting through the line and going in the opposite direction through the narrow Bow Street entrance.  We respectfully ask that parents who are picking up utilize the pick up line and follow our established procedures for dismissal.

Chromebook Take-Home program

If any family is interested in their 6th-8th grade student taking their Chromebook home after school, you can sign up in alma.  Just go into alma, click on your initials (top right or bottom right if you are on your phone.), select “alma start,” select your student, then click the “+” symbol at the top right.  This will bring you to a new screen.  Select the school and the current year.  A list of the tasks you can complete should appear in the window.  Select the “Netbook Take-Home Program 2022-2023”.  From here you can go through the online forms.  Before your student can take the device home, you will need to send in a check for $30, payable to Northwood School.  If you have any difficulty signing up, please let Mr. Robert know via email (srobert@northwoodschoolnh.org).

News from Grade 6

Sixth Grade Science

Students in sixth grade have been studying thermal energy transfer.  They tested their knowledge of conductors and insulators by designing an insulating device that could keep an ice cube frozen the longest.  Kylie won the challenge by keeping the ice cube frozen for 5 hours.

Sixth Grade: Allusions in Literature

In English class we are learning to identify allusions in literature. An allusion is an implied or indirect reference to a person, place, thing, event, or other literary work. As part of practicing, students created their own allusions. See if you can guess the references being made.
