The Global Plastic Treaty | |
New Hope for
Reducing Plastic Waste
As we reported months ago, the UN's Global Plastic Treaty will culminate in an international, legally-binding treaty that will take effect as early as 2025.
But with the US setting a low bar in early rounds of negotiations, many feared the final treaty would do little to control plastic pollution.
3 billion pounds of plastic enter
the marine environment every year.
Good news: the outlook for a strong treaty improved dramatically in August, when the US announced it will support the global target to reduce plastic production.
