Highlights
Bring a Towel on July 31 for Youth Pool Party
Parents, if you have a middle-school or high-schooler in your home, plan to join GHTC Youth from 5:00-7:00 p.m. for a pool party! Hosts extraordinaire Shelli Lord-Pawson and Todd Pawson have floats, a ping-pong table, spike ball, a bubble machine and plenty of outdoor activities at their Midlothian home. The party is on Saturday, July 31 and you can meet Kate Given and Kyle Bomar, our new staff members, in a small setting. Please bring a bathing suit and a towel if you want to swim, or just join us for a fun evening outside with GHTC families. Food will be provided.
Seniors Sunday + Brunch: August 1
Calling all seniors…have you met the Rev. Duane Nettles yet? Our first Senior Sunday will occur on August 1. In addition to receiving communion, seniors are invited to attend brunch in the Parish Hall after the 10:00 a.m. worship service. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with church friends and hear Duane’s sermon plus meet him at brunch. You can have your headshot photo made, too, in the Parish Hall on August 1.

Not sure if you’re a senior? Contact Barb Dodd or sign up online in two minutes at ghtc.org/brunch so we’ll have enough food.

Pastoral Announcements

Prayer List Updates
Our COVID care team and prayer list have combined over the summer. If you have a prayer request, be sure to contact prayer@ghtc.org which is a secure email so that your church family can support you. Need a call from a priest? Email clergy@ghtc.org for confidential communication with Rev. Duane Nettles or Rev. Kim Reinholz.

COVID & CDC Guidelines
In accordance with CDC guidelines, the Vestry voted to revise our COVID guidelines in the Nave of the church. We will continue to maintain social distancing (skipping every other pew) in the Nave; those who are vaccinated may choose not to wear a mask. Anyone is welcome to continue wearing a mask in the building. Choir members, clergy and others in the chancel and altar area may wear masks since there is robust singing, less social distancing space, and children who cannot yet be vaccinated. Please remember to be respectful of everyone’s personal decision regarding the wearing of masks inside the church.
Worship & Music

Dance Playlist
During the Rev. Kim Reinholz’s last sermon she encouraged people to contribute the name of music to help get your body moving. Check out the playlist on Spotify at this link which can liven up any hour in your home!

Great Music at GHTC
This week’s “Samples from Sunday” is the lovely solo “The Lord Is My Shepherd” by Richard Goodall performed by Abigail Stinnett, Soloist, and Dr. Elizabeth Melcher Davis, Pianist, for the worship service on July 18. This is the theme song from the popular BBC show “The Vicar of Dibley.” Thanks to Abbey for sharing her musical gifts with us—and be sure to check out the GHTC Music YouTube channel online!

Christian Formation
Youth Family Gathering
On August 8 after the 10:00 a.m. worship service families of youth are invited to meet with Kyle Bomar, Youth and Adult Formation Minister, for a boxed lunch in the Parish Hall. Please contact Kyle to learn more; parents and youth (sixth grade and higher) are welcome to attend.
Parish Life
Do You Know a Landscape Designer?
In preparation for back-to-school (and church) activities this fall, the Property Committee seeks parishioner recommendations for a landscape design firm. Contact Andrew Peacock to share information.
Kitchen Deep Cleaning
On August 8, after the 10:00 a.m. worship service, we’ll be having a deep cleaning of the kitchen after church. We need eight volunteers to help. This is a great way to volunteer for a couple of hours and help your church get ready for a busy fall schedule. If you are interested please contact Andrew Peacock or Amber Weaver
Celebration of Judy Bowman Last Sunday
With more than 100 in attendance, our Financial Secretary Judy Bowman was honored last Sunday, July 18, for her 30 years of service at GHTC. You don’t have to be a regular Facebook user to see some of the photos on Grace & Holy's Facebook Page.
Outreach
Red Door Continues Every Friday
Besides to-go lunches for approximately 100 every week, the Red Door continues to provide hotel-size toiletries, socks, t-shirts, underwear and seasonal clothing. Men’s shoes and short-sleeved shirts are the items most needed at this time, according to Camryn, our clothing closet coordinator. Thank you for your generous support of the Red Door Ministry!
