The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre is on the road!

On June 9th, The Redwood officially launched our newest initiative to assist women and children to live free from abuse.

The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre, housed in a custom outfitted RV, is bringing anti-gender-based violence counselling and prevention services to survivors in neighbourhoods throughout the GTA. We believe that it is the first service of its kind in Canada.

We are grateful to The Redwood’s generous donors and community partners for helping us to provide this critical support to the community. We offer our heartfelt thanks to the Estate of Helen Allen Stacey and the Lang Family Foundation whose kind gifts have made the launch of the Mobile Healing Centre possible.

Please read more about The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre here.

Scotiabank makes a community investment in The Redwood’s HVAC Staffing!

We are thrilled to share that Scotiabank has made a two-year community investment of $100,000 in The Redwood’s HVAC Staffing, our program that supports survivors of gender-based violence to pursue training and careers in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning trades.

Most critically, Scotiabank’s investment provides grocery store gift cards for women to help put food on the table for themselves and their children while they train.

Our community partnership with Scotiabank is enabled by ScotiaRISE, a 10-year, $500 million initiative that provides the tools people need to improve their education and employment prospects, adapt to changing circumstances, and increase the likelihood of financial success. Read more about ScotiaRISE here

The Redwood extends our deepest appreciation and admiration for Scotiabank’s generous investment in the lives of women who have experienced abuse.

The Redwood is Out and Proud at Pride Toronto 2022!

The Redwood made its first official appearance at Pride this year, contributing to the celebration and sharing our anti-gender-based violence resources with the community.

We distributed 1,300 bookmarks to visitors to our Pride Street Fair booth, with information on how to reach a crisis line responder by phone, text and live chat.

And we participated in the Pride Parade to let everyone know: If you are experiencing gender-based violence, we are here for you 24/7!

We still have a few special edition Redwood Pride bookmarks left! If you would like to distribute them to an organization – or would just like one for yourself, please contact Marie Colucci at mcolucci@theredwood.com. She will be happy to mail them to you!
