Youth Group Help Needed
Youth Group will be starting soon and I need some help. On the second Sunday of each month we will be having dinner and devotions. I am looking for volunteers to provide and serve dinner to the youth and volunteers to provide devotions. There will be a sign up sheet at the Connection Center across from the church office. The dates are Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12. Dinner will be served about 6:15 pm and devotions will start around 6:30 pm and should be 20-30 minutes.
**In keeping with our safe sanctuary policy volunteers are needed for all youth activities.
Drivers and adults will be needed for activities on Sept. 19, Nov. 21, and Dec. 19.
At least one additional adult is needed on Sept. 26, Oct. 3, Nov.7 and Dec. 5 to assist with the regular youth group meeting at the church. These are from 6:08-7:30 pm
A full schedule of fall activities can be found on the youth Facebook and church website.

Take a Break
Sometimes in my articles I tell you to “Take a Breath,” but today Instead of “Take a Breath,” let me suggest a new approach – “Take a Break!” Taking a break is a time-honored, deeply biblical strategy for life.
If you look at the book of Genesis, it says that God created for six days and then on the seventh day "God rested." It should probably be translated, "God stopped creating." More simply stated - God took a break.
In the Jewish tradition, Sabbath is a deeply revered concept. The idea is that everyone needs a day to refocus his or her faith and life. Everyone, without exception, everyone needs this. Sabbath was a day, to be sure, but it was much more than a day. To honor Sabbath is to honor the need for reflection and personal restoration which is God honoring.
Viewed in this way, there are many ways to take a "Sabbath," and that's what I hope you'll consider doing before this summer ends. Take a break. Take a break from noise. Take a break from work. Take a break from routines. Take a break from technology. Take a break from anger or resentment or bitterness. Take a break from a sedentary life. Take a break from ambition and striving and achieving. Take a break from procrastination and avoidance. Take a break from negativity. Take a break from personal gloominess and sadness. Take a break from feeling overwhelmed.
Take a break!
Because I have been appointed as the Pastor of Sandborn UMC, I plan to lead by way of example, I, too, plan to implement a Sabbath strategy. I'm going to take a break from Care Corner. Thanks for reading these ramblings and sharing how meaningful they have been to you. I'll be back from time to time. Allow the Peace of Jesus, the Christ, to fill your heart and soul.

I would like to thank each of you for your thoughts, prayers and the many cards I received after having my stroke. I am doing much better and residing at my daughter, Sandra’s home for the time being. I have started Out patient therapy with hopes of continued improvement for my right hand/arm and leg. Prayers for continued healing with God’s help.
Blessings to each of you.
