Hop-On, Hop-Off Harbor Cruise

The Harbor Cruise starts at Fort Trumbull State Park, skips over to City Pier in Downtown New London, cruises across the river to Thames Landing in Groton and back around to Fort Trumbull. Visit heritage sites, get lunch or just catch the breeze!


Harbor Cruise Info:

  • Your ticket can be used all day long! Hop-on and off at your leisure at any landing site.
  • Each cruise between sites is 15-minutes long.
  • Sit back and relax to enjoy the one-hour loop.


Departures:

  • Fort Trumbull State Park in New London on the hour.
  • City Pier in New London 20 minutes after the hour.
  • Thames River Landing in Groton 40 minutes after the hour.

Submarine, Battlefields and Betrayers. Military on the Thames


For centuries our harbor has guarded the Thames River and entry to Long Island Sound with Navy and Coast Guard installations, the ship building industries that support them, as well as two forts that have seen battles, defeats and the birthplace of the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. Park volunteers will guide you through the many tales the river has to offer.

Water, Wampum & Medicine Wheels. Mohegan Life on the Thames


The first inhabitants along the western side of the Massapequatuck (Thames) River — the Mohegan tribe — settled here from the time of Sachem Uncas’ birth toward the end of the 16th century. Led by Tribal members, they will tell stories demonstrating how crucial the Thames River was for food, wildlife, transportation, and trade as well as their relationship with the colonists.
