Dear GLHS families,
Our Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools team has been carefully monitoring incidence of COVID-19 cases and quarantine data, and our COVID-19 Task Force met today to consider this information in the context of our predetermined thresholds.
Due to an increased number of cases and quarantines, Gahanna-Lincoln High School will require masks for all students, teachers and staff when inside school buildings, effective Monday, August 30, 2021.
Like you, we are disappointed that our numbers have increased, and this is an important step for the health and safety of our GLHS community. Our decision also reflects our continued commitment to keep students in school, in-person, five days a week.
It is important to note that full masking at GLHS will not eliminate quarantine requirements. It will, however, provide opportunity for modified quarantine when paired with three feet of social distancing. Modified quarantines allow students to stay in school and maximize their learning. In addition to masking and social distancing protocols, a student who is vaccinated also qualifies for a modified quarantine.
We continue to evaluate and increase social distancing at GLHS to better position students, teachers and staff to be eligible for the modified quarantine.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Steve Barrett
