Nease Families, welcome to the 22-23 school year! We are looking forward to a fabulous school year.

There is a lot of information below, so please read carefully. Not every family has subscribed to the Panther Press, so please share with your friends to ensure they know what is happening and encourage them to visit the Nease website to register their email to receive this weekly electronic newsletter, which is our main means of communication with Nease families.

How is Panther pick-up different than Link Crew’s Freshman Orientation?
  • Panther pick-up is for ALL students grades 9 – 12 and parents to be on campus. This year Panther pick-up is only Thursday, August 4th from 8am to 7:30pm with 60 students arriving every 15mins. Please use the sign-up genius to select the best time slot for your family - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0444ada722aaf58-panther5
During Panther pick-up students will visit the stations described below and walk their schedule as
many times as needed to feel ready for August 10th.
  • Link Crew’s Freshman Orientation is August 2nd & 3rd from 5pm to 8:30pm. Link Crew is a junior and senior organization where each member is assigned a group of freshmen to mentor. The freshmen will be called on July 28th or 29th and invited to attend orientation on 2nd or 3rd. (The date is pre-assigned.) During the orientation, freshman meet other freshman, learn about Nease, and the campus. The event is loads of fun and we hope your child attends! The orientation is for students only – no parents.
  • Link Crew will also provide an orientation to all new students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade on Monday, August 8th – time still to be determined.

Schedules will be LIVE on HAC Monday, August 3rd. For brand-new students to St. Johns County, HAC will not be available until you log into HAC while on a St. Johns County school property accessing the network. New student account information will be available for new students at Panther pick-up on August 4th.

Students will have 3 days Wed, Thu, Fri, August 3rd through the 5th, to review their schedule and notify us of a scheduling error using the link below
Errors will be corrected prior to school starting.
Errors include…
  • a hole in the schedule
  • a course on the schedule previously taken
  • a missing course needed for graduation
  • a missing course that is the next course in the progression from a course already taken. (For example, student took Spanish 1 last year with no grade lower than a C, but Spanish 2 is missing on schedule.)

Requests to change a course level, change an elective, switch from a brick & mortar course to virtual, or to change a teacher will not be honored.

SENIORS ONLY: modified period(s) might have been changed while classes were being balanced to meet class-size amendment requirements; therefore, requests to change a student’s modified period(s) will not be honored.

Families that have not completed the annual RSV (Returning Student Verification) or have expired leases will NOT be able to see their schedule on August 3rd. PLEASE take care of these issues BEFORE August 3rd

************ INFO FOR PANTHER PICK-UP **************

Digital ID APP
Again, this year students will use a digital ID app on their phone. Plastic IDs will be available for everyone to use as a back-up. We found last year that the Digital ID was more accessible because a phone is rarely forgotten at home unlike the plastic ID.  Students must use their ID to check-out books/textbooks, purchase lunch, and use at tardy machine. Please use the directions on the flyer at the bottom of the Panther Press on how to download Leonard’s Digital ID app on the student’s phone. If a plastic ID is desired, Leonard's will be in the gym and will print one free of charge upon request. After Panther Pick-up, if a plastic ID is printed in the Media Center the cost is $5.

Students must….
  • download Leonard’s Digital ID app on their phone BEFORE Panther Pick-up
  • scan their new digital ID upon entering campus.

Students who have not downloaded the app prior to Panther Pick-up will have to download on campus before they enter and then scan their ID to continue with Panther Pick-up.

New students to St Johns County Public Schools will need to have their picture taken in the gym for their digital ID, but the app should still be downloaded prior to Panther Pick-up.

Digital Citizenship - REQUIRED
Each year students are REQUIRED by the school district to read and complete a digital citizenship quiz. We encourage students to read the District AUP and complete the quiz (links below) PRIOR to Wednesday, August 3rd, when we will generate a list of completers. During Panther Pick-up we will check the list to verify that each student has completed the quiz. If a student is not on the list, the student will use a computer in the cafeteria to complete this requirement.

After digital citizenship verification or completion, each student will be given a ticket that is required to check-out textbooks from the media center, so please do not skip the digital citizenship station in the cafeteria.

Password is your HAC password

Documents need to be submitted by Friday, July 29th. Students that submit by July 29th will have their documents verified and tag ready for quick easy pick-up during Panther Pick-up on August 4th. Students who miss the deadline will have to wait until Mrs. Kunze has time to verify the documents before tag is received. This could be after school starts.

Bus Information
Someone from the transportation department will be in the cafeteria to answer transportation questions. If your child is riding the bus, it is IMPERATIVE they know their bus number for the afternoon. Have student place their bus number in their phone if you think they will forget. Dismissal the first couple of weeks is hectic with new students learning our system. Administrators working bus dismissal do not have access to lookup a bus number and they do not know the routes of all 20 buses. Students can look up their bus numbers and bus stop location in HAC.

Driver’s Education Course
St Johns County Tax Collector’s Office will have a representative on campus from 9am to noon to answer questions about the county’s driver’s education program. Nease hosts classes for the county, so it is convenient for our students.
