A relic is a remnant of a saint, venerated by Christians as a means of God’s grace. In most cases, these relics are a part of the saint’s body; items belonging to saints and pieces of cloth pressed against a saint’s bones are also considered relics.

Notable relics are usually contained in cases called thecas and reliquaries; these cases can be quite ornate, or they can be small enough to slip into a pocket.

The majority of Saints Peter and Paul’s collection is normally housed within special cabinets in the sacristy, which will be displayed in front of the Marian altar from October 28 to November 11 in commemoration of All Saints Day. Others can be found year-round in the rear of the Church or St. Francis of Assisi Chapel.

Proceeds will support the parish’s outdoor lighting project, including the illumination of its historic church. As one of the tallest structures in downtown Naperville—the heart of the city—the church steeple serves as a true beacon in the community, a sign of faith and hope for all.

In advance of the 100th anniversary of the building’s dedication in 2027, Saints Peter and Paul is embarking on a major beautification project that will visually enhance the stunning architecture of the church, while also providing additional safety and security for parishioners, students, clergy, staff, and pedestrians. Enhancements will include architectural flood and spotlight fixtures, statuary and landscape lighting across the seven-acre campus, as well as the electrical wiring infrastructure to support it.
