29 August 2021
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Worship on Sunday, August 29th

Oh, how good and pleasant it is, when kindred live together in unity!    Psalm 133:1

On Sunday, August 29th Trinity Church will join with others from across ECCT to worship at St. Monica’s Hartford (3575 Main St. Hartford, CT) at 10:30 A.M.

The service will be outdoors as well as streamed to www.youtube.com/ctepiscopal.

In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved inside with masks and social distancing. There will be no worship on that day at Trinity Church, 120 Sigourney St. at either 8:00 A.M. or 10:00 A.M.

We hope as many of you as possible with join us in worshiping with our friends at St. Monica’s.
Rector on Vacation

Rev. D will be taking some well-deserved time off beginning Friday, August 26 and will return to the office on Tuesday, September 7th.

Should you need pastoral care, please call the office (860-527-8133 ext 204) and speak with Barbara Roos who can connect you with a priest.
Adult Christian Formation Survey

The Adult Christian Formation team needs your ideas! As we plan forums and events for the coming program year, we want to know what topics and presenters you're interested in. So, we are taking a survey. It's a short questionnaire, and it should take only a few minutes to fill it out.

There will be paper copies for you to complete in church on Sunday. The survey is also available here, where you can fill it out electronically and submit it.

We have some great offerings planned for early in the fall, but we want to make sure that what we offer is what you're looking for! Please take a few minutes to let us know what Christian Formation topics are of interest to you.

An Opportunity to Resettle an Afghan Refugee Family

Trinity church, together with St. Patrick St. Anthony (Hartford), is going to resettle one of the thousands of refugee families now fleeing Afghanistan. Trinity has a decades-long history of helping refugees, and we are now privileged to continue that tradition. We are going to help our new family find housing, furnishings, clothing, jobs for the adults, English lessons, health care, and public education for the children. There are big jobs and little jobs for us to do -- a job to fit every volunteer. Please contact Anne Rapkin for more information (860-521-5992; a.rapkin@snet.net).

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for by doing that some have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.  —Hebrews 13:1-2
Crisis in Haiti

On Saturday, August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the southwest portion of Haiti. This devastating earthquake was followed by Tropical Storm Grace on Monday night and much of Tuesday. More than 1 million people, including more than half a million children, have been impacted by the back-to-back disasters, and the death toll is close to 2000. Episcopal Relief & Development and its partners are responding immediately with direct assistance to vulnerable households in the region, as partners plan long-term recovery. Your generous gift can provide assistance to help people in the wake of these disasters. To assist in these efforts, visit episcopalrelief.org/haiti-relief.

Trinity Book Group

For its next gathering, which will be in September, Trinity's Book Group has chosen The Story of More: How We Got to Climate Change and Where to Go from Here by Hope Jahren. In concise, highly readable chapters, the author takes us through the science behind the key inventions—from electric power to large-scale farming to automobiles—that, even as they help us, release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere like never before. She explains the current and projected consequences of global warming and the actions that we all can take to fight back. All are welcome to attend this meeting, which will be September 24th, 7 pm, which is expected to be in-person! Location TBA.
