Race shouldn’t determine your health. Zip code shouldn’t change your life expectancy. Dr. Nwando Olayiwola explains how the medical profession does harm to patients by perpetuating racism & committing place-ism, ignoring place & health connections. She offers solutions for how technology & educational reform can help.
Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)
SDOH have a major impact on people’s health, well-being, and quality of life.

Did you know 1/3 of UCSF’s patients are on Medi-Cal?
Did you know that a family of four can’t make more than $36K/year to qualify for Medi-Cal?

Stuck in a rut? It can be easy to feel this way once you’ve been in your career for a while. Mentoring can help you expand your perspective, build community, and challenge yourself. Whenever you teach or provide guidance to someone else, it can help reignite your own career motivation.

"The best way a mentor can prepare another leader is to expose him or her to other great people" ~ John C. Maxwell

ALL APP STUDENTS AT UCSF HEALTH FACILITIES
All preceptors are required to ensure all students from ALL educational institutions have been vetted by UCSF prior to any educational activities, including employees. UCSF has many parts of the organization involved in this process. The outside school needs an affiliation agreement with UCSF. The student must complete health screening, safety training (online), APEX training, and sign a HIPPA form.
