Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
We hope that you found time to relax and enjoy the holiday break. With the start of the second semester in January, we enter into the time when our students show the most growth. The classroom routines have been established, the academic building blocks are in place, and there are fewer interruptions to the schedule. They are comfortable with their classmates and find safety and trust with their teachers.
We smile as we reflect on the growth that we have seen during this first semester of the school year. Your children are showing independence and responsibility and we are grateful to be part of their learning.
Thank you for sharing your children with us.
Mrs. Becky Buhler
Principal

January tends to bring the cold and wet weather that comes with winter. While it is not my favorite season, winter is a much-loved time for our students. With that, it is very important that they come prepared for the weather. Our students have three recesses each day and they love to play in the snow! Winter gear should include boots, snowpants, a coat that zips, a hat, and mittens or gloves. If you are struggling to provide any of these items, please contact your child’s teacher or the office, as we may be able to help.
Here are a few helpful hints regarding winter gear and school:
Stretchy gloves are wonderful, but they get wet very quickly. Having a couple extra pairs of gloves in their backpack can help to ensure that your child has warm, dry hands.
Wet feet can also be a problem. An extra pair of socks in their backpack will also be helpful in keeping your child warm and dry throughout the day.
PLEASE…BE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD’S NAME IS ON THEIR GEAR. It is difficult to keep track of which black snowpants belong to which child when nearly every student has very similar black snowpants.
It is important for you to know that we go outside for recess when the “feels like temperatures” are 0 degrees or above. You can see why winter gear is important.

Winter Pick up and Drop off Zones
|
|
CAUTION! Our pick-up and drop-off areas get a little dangerous during the snowy winter season. Not only is it slippery, but the snow piles on the sides of the road make it difficult to see the surrounding area. Combining those two conditions can make for a dangerous situation. PLEASE… use the crosswalks and drive slowly through these areas to help keep these areas safe.

Students at Lake Geneva Middle School, Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, and Central-Denison Elementary School will have no school Friday, January 21, 2022. This day was previously a scheduled half-day for students but is now a full day off of school.
Please note that Badger High School will still hold final exams for periods 7 and 8 on Friday, January 21, 2022, with early dismissal at 11:06 a.m. Badger High School students should report to school as normal on this day.
Teachers and Staff will be reporting to school on Friday, January 21, 2022, and will be using all non-student hours for professional development and work time.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a happy and healthy holiday season!

Dear Lake Geneva Schools Families,
Lake Geneva Food Service is participating in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year. This means that our schools provide free meals to all students! This program provides additional support and flexibility for our district to continue serving meals to children while maintaining safety measures and managing the impacts of the COVI D-19 pandemic.
Included in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product availability shortages. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverage products normally provided to students may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. We ask for patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of your children.
Sincerely,
Jaclyn Sanders
Food Service Coordinator
