The Children's Trust Family Expo Starts Saturday!
Three Dates, Three Locations
Starting this Saturday, July 23, The Children’s Trust Family Expo is going out into the community with three events, spread out at various locations and on different days to make sure and reach the largest amount of our diverse population. The first event is at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Family Expo continues to be the best chance for families to connect with the Trust’s extensive provider network as well as other community agencies and organizations that serve them. Volunteers Needed 
The Children’s Trust is looking for volunteers for the last two 2022 Family Expo events in late July and early August. The Expo is the largest family resources exposition in Miami-Dade County bringing resources, information and provider agencies to the communities that most need them. Back-to-School Virtual Open House for Newly Hired Youth Development Provider Staff *
If you're hiring new staff for the new school year, be sure to invite them to attend Project RISE's Back-to-School Virtual Open House as part of their orientation/onboarding process. Taking place on August 11, from 11 a.m.-noon, this virtual open house is a perfect way for new staff to become acquainted with what Project RISE has to offer (such as trainings, courses, coaching services, and peer learning opportunities) and ask questions that will help them start the year off ahead of the curve. Differentiated Literacy Instruction
August 16, 1 - 3 p.m.
In this virtual training, certified teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze to identify struggling readers and develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction. Please register for this training on Trust Academy. Once registered, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and handouts the day before the training.
Take Part in COVID-19 Mental Health & Wellness Program Survey
The COVID-19 Mental Health and Wellness Program II© (CMHWPII) is in its second iteration to serve the Miami-Dade community. COVID-19 continues to impact our lives and the CMHWPII is designed to survey and provide resources to those in need of information and services on their “Path to Wellness.” The program exists to assist Miami-Dade County’s essential workers and residents with navigating the myriad of challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic – focusing on the broad spectrum of mental health-related issues commonly associated with disasters and pandemics.

CMHWPII services include:

  • Access to a FREE Mental Health & Wellness Survey with a Real-time Scorecard
  • A culturally and linguistically sensitive program available in Creole, English, and Spanish

Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.

Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.

Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1
You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment.
This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

988 is Now the New Nationwide Suicide Hotline *
Please let those you serve know that the national implementation of 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, as the single number for callers around the nation to use for access to crisis counseling and suicide prevention services took place on July 16. If you or someone you know needs help, please dial 988. The current lifeline number 1-800-273-8255 (TALK) will be available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis for transition as 988 is launched nationally. Callers within our local area codes will be directed to the JCS Helpline Counselors for assistance. This service is made possible through generous funding support from The Children’s Trust, Thriving Mind South Florida, Miami-Dade County, United Way Miami, the State of Florida, Department of Children.
Florida KidCare: Free or Low-Cost Health and Dental Insurance for Kids *
Please make those you serve aware of health care options available through Florida KidCare that includes free, subsidized and full-pay options based on family income and household size. Most families pay nothing at all for coverage, and many pay as little as $15 or $20 a month. Families who do not qualify for free or subsidized coverage may purchase a competitively priced full-pay plan. Lawfully residing immigrant children are eligible without a waiting period, and information about a parent’s immigration status won’t be asked. With no application fee and year-round enrollment, the time to apply is always now. Florida KidCare Coalition Back to School Health Fair *
The Florida KidCare Coalition of Miami-Dade County is a group of member organizations focused on improving rates of health insurance enrollment and access to health services for children in our community. Foster Parent Training on Zoom from National Youth Advocate Program

Digital Media Specialist at The Children's Trust
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for assisting the Communications team with all forms of digital and traditional media, with a primary focus on social media and website content updates. The Digital Media Specialist will be the primary executor of social media strategies as directed by the Communications Director and the Media Manager. The incumbent will also work with marketing and public relations consultants, as assigned. Under the guidance of the Media Manager, the incumbent will have creative latitude to develop written content, support ad buys and other marketing strategies, will have the opportunity to cultivate media stories, and will assist with web content development. Annual salary is $48,668.
Program Manager at The Children's Trust
The Program Manager position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This position requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation. This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead.

Available Positions at Breakthrough Miami *
Lead Program Officer *
Advancing the organization’s vision, goals and program models, the Lead Program Officer oversees, coaches, and supports Breakthrough Miami’s site directors, who are embedded on multiple sites across Miami. Working collaboratively with program leadership, the Lead Program Officer helps inform and develop program implementation strategies to support site teams in achieving program goals, outcomes, and impact. They serve in a leadership role to build and nurture organizational culture and learning, maximize the strengths of team members, and create systems for continuous improvement. The Lead Program Officer designs and leads onboarding, professional development, workplans, evaluations, and coaching of site staff. Additionally, in collaboration with program leadership, they support the design, oversight and performance of cross-functional teams advancing major areas of work including recruitment, organizational-wide events, and family services. The Lead Program Officer works with site directors to improve program fidelity, operational efficiencies, leadership and management skills, and the quality of program delivery.

The individual in this role is a natural leader who is detail-oriented, self-directed, has excellent interpersonal communication skills and can handle multiple projects within a dynamic work schedule.

Director of Training *
The Director will have primary operational oversight of Breakthrough Miami’s training experiences and contract activities that align with best practices in the field of youth development, education, social emotional wellness, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and college readiness. The Director will be responsible for leading and managing external training contracts, including Breakthrough Miami’s work as a Trust Academy Quality Assurance Training Partner. The Director will also support impactful professional development for Breakthrough Teaching Fellows, Volunteers, Success Coaches.

The framework for the body of work as a Trust Academy training partner focuses on High-Quality Program Practices, and Strong Foundations. Within these two areas, key strands will take Providers through a scaffolded professional development experience designed to provide dynamic, relevant, and evolving content, through tiers of courses, live trainings, peer learning communities and coaching. The High-Quality Program Practices area provides direct-service knowledge, techniques, strategies, and reflection time through strands focused on Engaged and Active Learning; Youth Voice, Choice and Leadership; and Community, Culture and Well-being. Strong Foundations focuses on Provider's organizational capacity through strands focused on Outcomes-driven data; Coaching & Management; and Knowledge Behind the Practice. 

The individual in this role has demonstrated success in training, coaching and professional development; has excellent public speaking and writing skills; and takes initiative, identifies needs, and implements solutions.

Assistant Site Director *
The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 
 
The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
