President's Message

Dear WTS Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Community,

It’s June and officially summer! All month long we celebrate Pride, which is a time to reflect on the LGBTQIA+ community’s rich history and take meaningful action to advance unity, visibility, and equality. We proudly celebrate the WTS members and transportation allies in our community who are actively driving change, equity, and leadership in our industry.

We also celebrate Juneteenth to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. This day is a time to celebrate liberation, reflect on the racial injustices that have endured for centuries, and educate ourselves on Black history and anti-racism.

We also shine a spotlight on International Women in Engineering Day. This day is dedicated to celebrating the incredible achievements of women in engineering and technology. We are immensely proud of the talented female engineers in our Chapter who drive progress, innovation, and excellence within our organization and the broader community.

Our chapter programs team was busy continuing to bring you relevant experiences this month. Our own Stephanie Taylor (Board – Vice President) hosted a panel of TxDOT women leaders. Attendees had the opportunity to learn how the panelists are helping advance transportation both here in the Greater DFW area and in the state. We also successfully launched our chapter’s inaugural Wine and Wisdom Book Club, spearheaded by Diane Gollhofer, and wow! A sold-out crowd shared insightful discussions over a good book and even better wine. Due to the great feedback, we are looking at hosting another event in the future, so stay tuned for more details.

As we move into July, we’re eager to keep the momentum going with more exciting programs. Mark your calendars for our Chapter Speed Networking event at the House of Blues on July 11. This will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow members and expand your professional network in an extremely unique format. Be sure to look for the sign-up included in this newsletter.

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, I want to wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday. Enjoy time with family and friends, and take time to relax and recharge. As you navigate the summer, stay heat-aware and make sure you, your family and friends (especially pets, kids and the elderly) are safe and hydrated this summer.

Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in the WTS Greater D/FW Chapter. Together, we continue to build a community that champions diversity, professional growth, and the advancement of women in transportation.
