The next EURASHE General Assembly will take place on 20th October, in a hybrid format, meaning that some members will gather with the Board in Brussels while others may follow online from their home countries. At this meeting, members will be asked to appoint John Edwards as the new EURASHE Secretary-General.
They will also receive an update on the latest activities and the process being put in place to develop a new multi-annual strategy. Following the General Assembly, there will be a workshop open to all our partners and friends at the EURASHE premises. It will bring together policymakers and experts to discuss the subject of ‘Professional Higher Education contributing to Recovery and Resilience in Europe’. An agenda and registration link will soon be published on the EURASHE website.

SAVE THE DATE: EURASHE 2022 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
|
The EURASHE 2022 Annual conference will take place on 23 – 24 May in Brussels, Belgium. It will be hosted by EURASHE Belgian members from the French-speaking community, EPHEC, with the support of ARES.

LATEST UASiMAP PROJECT NEWS
|
The reports present the Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) situation and their regional engagement.
These reports aim to present important analytical data and explain the present situation, evolution, and trends of development of the Professional Higher Education sector with a focus on the UAS. The report provides a qualitative overview of the variety of UAS regional engagement in the country.

OECD's STAND BY YOUTH INITIATIVE
|
EURASHE is delighted to be associated with the OECD's Stand by Youth initiative, which aims to support and encourage businesses to help youth recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In July, our Board Member Paul Hannigan was a panellist in the initiative's launch event, discussing the impact of the pandemic on youth. During the upcoming OECD youth week, senior advisor John Edwards will talk about the role of higher education institutions in promoting entrepreneurship. EURASHE will work with its members to create links with businesses to offer opportunities for young people as they enter the labour market and is part of our broader commitment to supporting the recovery across Europe.

DEQAR CONNECT – CALL FOR PROPOSALS
|
Briefly, EQAR invites scholars, practitioners and students to submit research proposals that draw on DEQAR (Database of External Quality Assurance Results) data.
The aim is to offer policymakers knowledge that will support better-informed approaches in higher education and enrich the understanding of the dynamic and vivid higher educational landscape in the EHEA. Selected authors will be invited to present their work at the DEQAR CONNECT project Conference "From Data to Policy - Linking Quality Assurance and Recognition."
Deadline for submission of proposal: 1 October 2021

FULDA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES (UAS)
|
|
Fulda University of Applied Sciences is one of the most research-oriented UAS in Germany. Research focuses lie on three main areas: "health care, nutrition, food", "interculturality and social sustainability" and "computer science and systems technology."
From EURASHE we will like to showcase one of the projects they are working on called, "Transnational Governance and Human Rights" that focuses on "interculturality and social sustainability". It will expand the international network of the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences at Fulda UAS by establishing long-lasting partnerships until the end of 2024. The project supports a variety of exchange activities and events with six selected partner universities worldwide.
The broadly based project enhances the cooperation between international partners from academia and practice to strengthen the internationalisation of studies, teaching, research and doctoral studies.

SPANNING BOUNDARIES MAGAZINE – THIRD ISSUE
|
|
The third edition of the Spanning Boundaries Magazine is out. In this issue, they outline which barriers prevent businesses from collaborating successfully with their partners.
They also look at the Spanning Boundaries Training programme, and the process participants follow to develop their boundary spanning skills.
The magazines also take a deeper look into what an expert in boundary-spanning work looks like by interviewing two professionals in the field who share their wisdom.

The MICROBOL project aims for ministries and stakeholders to explore, within the Bologna Process, whether and how the existing Bologna tools can be used for or adapted to micro-credentials.
The two-year project is co-funded by Erasmus+ KA3 Support to Policy reform and, more specifically, "Support to implementing European Higher Education Area (EHEA) reforms". It is linked to the objectives of the new Erasmus+ Programme and the EHEA to increase access to continuous learning for all learners, regardless of age or experience.
They have created three working groups linked to the 3 Bologna key commitments in line with this objective. These groups have each had a kick-off meeting in 2020 and 2 larger meetings in January and May 2021.

TRANSVAL - EU CALL FOR SURVEY PARTICIPATION
|
The EU-funded project TRANSVAL-EU is European policy experimentation concerning innovative approaches for the validation of transversal skills obtained in non-formal and informal learning (VNFIL) contexts, including guidance services.
TRANSVAL – EU is currently mapping and analysing existing initiatives on validation and guidance processes integrating transversal competencies throughout Europe.
The survey only takes 5-10min to complete and is addressed to experts, practitioners, policy-makers, civil servants, workers in companies, project managers.

The European Researchers' night 2021 is here! It is a Europe-wide public event, which displays the diversity of science and its impact on citizens' daily lives in a fun, inspiring way.
This year the event will take place in 29 different countries on Friday, 24 September 2021. By visiting the event, people will have the opportunity to meet researchers and discover the fascinating world of science in a fun and interactive way.

REALISING THE EUROPEAN INNOVATION AREA
|
|
On Friday 8 October 2021, UAS4EUROPE, a network of Universities of Applied Sciences in which EURASHE also participates, will hand over its Action Plan for Innovation to EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel. The Innovation Action Plan will make concrete applied research recommendations to the European Innovation Area (EIA).
The Action Plan for Innovation is part of Commissioner Gabriel's initiative for the new European Innovation Area (EIA), which will complete the knowledge triangle by complementing the European Education Area (EEA) and the European Research Area (ERA).

EUROPEAN QUALITY ASSURANCE FORUM
|
|
Registrations are now open for the European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) 2021; '"Building trust and enhancement: from information to evidence", which will take place online on the 18 and 19 of November.
The Forum will address questions such as ensuring an appropriate balance between qualitative and quantitative data and diverse sources of information. It will also focus on analysing and interpreting the data and ensuring that it is used to enhance quality and promote trust.

EUA ONLINE WORKSHOP – DEVELOPING A HIGH-PERFORMANCE DIGITAL EDUCATION ECOSYSTEM: STRATEGY AND ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE

|
The workshop aims to support institutions in assessing their achievements and opportunities in digitally enhanced learning and teaching. Free of charge and open to all EUA members, higher education leaders responsible for learning and teaching and its digital transformation will interest higher education leaders.

The 11th edition of the Lifelong Learning Week will take place on 29 November – 3 December 2021. For 2021, our iconic event will tackle the topic "The changing nature of evaluation in education and its impact on learners' wellbeing ".
During the week, different European Society organisations will discuss issues, priorities, and solutions with EU decision-makers to make our education systems more inclusive and human.
