Our new Bishop, Scott Johnson is coming to FLC this Wednesday night!!!

Bishop Johnson will join us at Worship Lab on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:15pm.  He will be our guest speaker for the Confirmation kids following worship.

It is such a blessing to have our Bishop with us at worship and our education hour. We encourage ALL of our congregation to join us!!

Ministry Site Profile

Please join us this Sunday, April 2nd!

“And who knows whether for just a time like this you have been chosen?”

These words, spoken to Queen Esther by her uncle Mordecai, are given to her as a challenge and a calling. It is an important moment for the Israelites – their future is on the line - and she must fulfill her place in the community and play her part now.

Welcome to an important moment in the history of First Lutheran Church. We need your gifts and your faith to move forward into our future!

For the next step of the journey to call the next Pastor of First Lutheran Church, we will be creating a Ministry Site Profile. This all-important document will tell the story of First Lutheran, describe our community and our ministry, and paint a picture of what God is calling us to become. The MSP will be used by the Call Committee to evaluate potential candidates, by the Bishop of the Nebraska Synod to identify the best candidates for First Lutheran, and by the candidates themselves as they discern whether this is where they are being called to ministry.

Creating the MSP needs to be our shared work! The input of everyone is vital to creating the most accurate and useful portrait of this community so that we can find the right Pastor. We need you to come to one of these four gatherings to share your memories and hopes so that they can be incorporated into the MSP. You can choose from any of these times:

Sunday, April 2nd at 9:00 am (after worship)

Wednesday, April 19th at 6:45 pm. (after worship)

I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to attend one of these events IN PERSON! There will be other ways for you to share feedback through forms available on the church website or to pick up in the narthex, but those will have less impact on the final form of the Profile. It is our conversations together that will make the MSP more meaningful.

We are looking forward to seeing you at one of these events.

You will be seeing posters around the church now showing our progress through the Call Process journey. If you have any questions, please reach out to me or talk to any member of the church council.

In Christ,

Pastor Glen

We Remember Calvary by Joel Raney

This year, the First Lutheran Adult Choir is presenting a poignant Tenebrae service designed to recreate the emotional and spiritual aspects of the Passion Story through music. Both traditional and contemporary hymns and songs are combined with congregational singing, scripture reading, and narration to paint a vivid and moving picture of Christ's last days and his journey to the cross.

Choir News

But what if I can't sing?  A tiny percentage of the population truly cannot sing. Most of us have been given the air and vocal cords we need, and what we may lack is confidence. Perhaps a negative experience affected your willingness to sing. We can develop and learn how to sing at any age.  Choir can be one opportunity to explore the voice you didn't know you had.

For more information and questions, contact Vince, at vkrysl@firstlutheranblair.org

Communion Update:

Thank you for helping with this accommodation for Pastor Glen: because it is difficult for Pastor to bring communion to members in the pews, if you find it physically difficult to come forward during communion, we invite you to pick up the communion elements as you come into the Sanctuary and receive them during the communion liturgy when the Pastor indicates.

SCAM ALERT

Scammers are pretending to be a pastor, rabbi, priest, imam, or bishop. They’re asking worshipers for gift card contributions for a worthy cause.

These appeals are fraudulent. If you receive a phone call, text, or email asking for amazon gift cards, itunes, etc. Feel free to contact the church office to verify. Do not share any personal details.

If you or someone you know paid a scammer with a gift card, report it as soon as possible. Call the card company and tell them the gift card was used in a scam. Here is contact information for some of the gift card companies that scammers use most often. Then, tell the FTC about it at ftc.gov/complaint. Your reports may help law enforcement agencies launch investigations that could stop imposters and other fraudsters in their tracks.
