CCLS Fest

We are pleased to announce registration is open for our first CCLS-Fest. Please join us on Friday, October 22 at 9 Mile Garden in Affton for an adults-only night out in celebration of our school. CCLS-Fest will take the place of the Dinner Auction originally planned for the same date. The focus of this fall’s event will be simple -- bringing our community together for fun and fellowship to meet a financial goal for CCLS scholarships to ensure CCLS is accessible for all our students. CCLS-Fest tickets include entry to our private event with live music, a food truck meal of your choice, and open bar. Mark it on your calendar, click the link to register, and we’ll look forward to celebrating with you soon!

Have a great weekend in the Lord!

...Early Childhood... We have been so blessed this year with 74 ECE team members serving our little one across our four campuses! Click on the links for your campus directory so you can see all of the amazing educators who love your children every day!
...Elementary... Thanks for your diligent work, third and fourth graders, in completing the fall NWEA testing sessions! We will be planning testing make-up times for those who were absent.

Terrific Tuesdays will begin again on Tuesday, October 6th. Terrific Tuesdays are an after school opportunity for our students to enjoy some enrichment activities with their K-4 friends. The classes go from 3:30pm until 4:30pm every Tuesday for six weeks. There will also be a winter session and a spring session. Some of these classes are taught by our teachers and some are taught by outside CCLS partners. There are fees associated with the classes. Watch your emails for the course listing and a sign-up form that will be sent out next week.

Today we say good-bye to Ms. Tayler who has served over the last year as our Kid Kare director, our summer program director and as a teacher assistant. Thank you for your service to so many children, Ms. Tayler. God's blessings as you continue your academic pursuits. We will miss you.
...Middle School... We are already five weeks into the school year. I spoke with the middle school students about the fact that there is a lot going on at this time of year. Band is happening. Soccer, volleyball, and cross country are practicing and playing games/having meets. We spoke about the importance of asking questions, the importance of keeping focus, the importance of being faithful and diligent with work, and the importance of prayer. Parents, I pray the same for you. In the busyness of life keep your focus, keep a strong work ethic, and keep a strong fervor for sharing the Gospel message of Jesus.

Yesterday the area Lutheran school principals gathered for a conference. One of the many messages the speaker presented was the effect positive to negative. He commented on making an effort to have a 5:1 ratio of positive to negative. As I pondered this, I was thinking about my words and actions. Have I been presenting many more positives in people and to people rather than negatives? I think we can all pledge to be better at noticing and speaking the positives others are doing and living. Join me in the endeavor to bring more positivity into the world.

CCLS University
Each year we invite speakers to join us four nights throughout the year for our CCLS University, designed for our parents and staff to grow personally and professionally. One of our priorities at CCLS this year is the health and wellness of our community, and so our first speaker this year will be David Eberle from Lutheran Family and Children's Services. He will be speaking about mental health and wellness, teaching us what we should know considering our current context and how we can grow healthy in mind. CCLS University will take place in the Concordia Center, September 29, 6:15-7:15pm. I hope you can join us, as we are equipped to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind.
Teacher Appreciation
Fun and thoughtful monthly events of gratitude are in the works for our 150+ amazing CCLS teachers and staff! But we need YOUR help to make it happen! Please consider making a donation to the Teacher and Staff Appreciation efforts - click here now!
Moms in Prayer
Join us as we kick-off our Mom's in Prayer group on Thursday, 9/23. We will meet 8:15-9:00am at the Webster campus in Classroom C on the church side of the building. No requirements except a desire to join together and pray over our CCLS students and staff! If you'd like to be included in future communications, please share your contact info through this link. See you on the 23rd!
