The Home Study portion supports the live class segment. It includes reading, viewing lectures, and testing. Comfort-oriented massage or touch can be safely administered to cancer patients, regardless of the severity of their condition. The purpose of this class is to present information that will soothe bodyworkers' fears about working with clients who have been diagnosed with cancer or are recovering from it. The Home Study portion is a pre-requisite to the live webinar class. ABC's of CHINESE MEDICINE - Part A

In Introduction to Chinese medicine we will go on a journey through the vast and deep landscape of Chinese medicine. This class is open to anyone, with no prerequisites. It is part of the Shiatsu Certificate program, but is relevant to anyone with an interest in natural healing. We will explore the essential theories of this tradition, which provide a conduit from ancient healing methods rooted in the rhythms of the natural world, to contemporary practice in the modern world that we inhabit. This is a lecture class, but in each class we will practice some special Qi gong (movement/meditation) exercises to ground the theory in our own kinesthetic experience.

The Shiatsu program presents the theory, principles and techniques of Asian massage. In Shiatsu I, students learn a "kata", or choreographed set of techniques for the back of the body. In addition, students are introduced to the energetic anatomy upon which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Shiatsu is based. Names, locations, and functions of the primary channels are discussed, as well as the five-element theory. Students also learn a self-massage sequence called Dao Yin. (NCBTMB Approved)
NMT 4: TMJ Dysfunction

NMT 4 is an 4 hour course that completes the series. This course is open only to students who have completed NMT 1, NMT 2 and NMT 3. This course will give students a competency to practice gloved Trigger point and myofascial work inside the mouth for clients with TMJ/D, muscular strain from dental procedures or sport injuries. The other part of the day-long course will cover extra-occular muscle release around the eyes.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY INTRODUCTION

Craniosacral work is a gentle, powerful form of bodywork developed by an osteopathic physician. Techniques move the cranial and sacral bones to free restrictions in the connective tissue and central nervous system. REIKI 2ND DEGREE

The Second Degree Reiki Class is for those who want to dedicate themselves more deeply to the transformative and healing power of the Reiki energy. Through the use of the Reiki symbols there is an enhancement of the energy flow. These symbols form the central teaching piece in this class and we will practice extensively which each of them. In addition, the ability to do "distance treatments" is taught. Frank, who has been a Reiki Master since 1989, teaches this class in the tradition of Reiki Shiki Ryoho with Phyllis Lei Furumoto as the current Lineage Bearer. If you can bring some pictures to the class from your youth and of some people that have been or are important to you. MYOFASCIAL MASSAGE INTRODUCTION

RECORDKEEPING/TAX REPORTING

This class will cover bookkeeping and record keeping for self-employed therapists and technicians. Included will be specific requirements for income tax reporting and information on new regulations. Participants will learn how to account for the usual deductions (e.g., auto and educational expenses) and other "highly audited" but fully allowable deductions. Time will be devoted to both technical concepts and practical application. New tax law changes will be covered.
