President's Message
Happy May, WTS Members and Friends! Welcome to summer!! Technically, summer doesn’t officially begin for another month. But we all know that once Memorial Day rolls around, there’s no looking back.

We celebrated our Annual Awards & Scholarship Banquet on May 13. A big thanks to all of you who joined us for the amazing event and supported our fundraising efforts! While the numbers are still rolling in on what we were able to raise, I can say the banquet was a huge success! Our co-chairs, Gwen and Lani, and their Banquet Committee did an amazing job! It’s always fun to be able to come together and celebrate our award recipients and scholarship winners.

Last week, several of us descended upon Seattle, WA for the 2022 WTS International Conference – Mapping Transportation for All and left our mark on that part of the world. This was a great conference and a great opportunity to network with WTS Chapters from around the Country. I can honestly say the highlight of the conference was learning that the Greater DFW Chapter regained our Circle of Excellence Gold Level Status!! This is a major accomplishment that is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication from our volunteers and support from our members. Our Immediate Past President and Member of the Year, Brittney Farr, played a pivotal role in this effort. Thanks, Brittney, for your motivational leadership!

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. It’s important to remember that we’re all going through stuff and none of us are alone. We can support those around us by listening and by being open-minded and non-judgmental. If you are struggling with mental health, there is no shame in asking for help. Please reach out to someone you trust and find ways to take care of your own mental health. As employers and supervisors, you can help by encouraging and approving people to take time off to respond to their own health needs.

I look forward to seeing all of you at one of our upcoming mixers, technical tours or programs. Until then, continue to stay safe, take care of yourself and respect each other. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
