Worcester, MassachusettsThe Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District (BID) released a video to showcase and promote awareness of the important efforts of its Downtown Worcester Ambassadors in maintaining an attractive and welcoming Downtown. The video features some of the daily tasks the Ambassadors—all Worcester residents—perform, including trash and leaf removal, sidewalk pressure washing, and sanitization.

On the eve of Thanksgiving, BID Executive Director Evelyn Darling commended and expressed appreciation for the team for their exceptional service, especially during the pandemic. “We are so grateful for the dedication and hard work of all of our Ambassadors in serving our District no matter the task or condition outside,” she stated. “Those who do manual labor are often overlooked; we want the public to know their names and their faces.”

The Ambassador Program is one of the BID’s core services to facilitate and preserve Downtown Worcester’s growth. The BID contracts with a separate company, Streetplus, to provide and coordinate the Downtown Worcester Ambassadors since May 2019. For nearly 30 years, Streetplus has specialized in providing cleaning, maintenance, safety, and hospitality services to improvement districts throughout the country. Streetplus President Steve Hillard said, “Streetplus is proud to work with the Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District to keep Downtown Worcester clean, safe, and friendly.”

Now an integral part of Downtown Worcester, the Ambassadors interact with business owners and employees on a daily basis. Their hard work and commitment to keeping the District clean and safe help to attract new businesses and clients. Mary Simone, general manager of the AC Hotel, exclaimed, “We recently had a guest mention that he chose Downtown Worcester and the AC Hotel because when he saw the Ambassadors wipe down our door handles and all our neighbors’ door handles, he knew he was in a safe, clean city!”

The video project was produced by Inthink, a local hybrid business and marketing consultancy firm, and filmed by local photographer and videographer Matt Wright of Wright Photo Studios.

Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District is a nonprofit organization established in 2018 to sustain momentum in the heart of Downtown Worcester. The result of a comprehensive community-based effort, the organization represents the owners of 140 properties and seeks to create a unique sense of place through enhanced investment and development, establishing and sustaining a vibrant, welcoming, and economically viable district for all.
