What’s Happening at RpT’s Library

I decided to rebuild my recording computer moving from a MacMini over to a Windows computer. No small task to make sure all the programs are licensed and moving years of audio and video data.

Almost done.

I have finished the project with Michael Wesley Stinson and in the middle of two songs for Emma Jane Conley. More on those and other projects

next month.

In case you missed the earlier newsletters, here is a link to the ones we have completed so far this year.

PROCRASTINATION

I am a procrastinator.

Not necessarily for the things I do for everyone else. Overall, I am a responsible guy. But, when it comes to doing things for myself, I am pitiful. It is getting worse the older I get. And, with August being my birth month, these procrastination abilities have reached dizzying heights. (Born August 30th, 1946, at 5:45 PM). What is a person to do?

I keep finding memes that support my position. One said: “Procrastination – making sure you have things to do tomorrow and nothing to do today” (Source unknown). Another stated – “Productive Procrastination (n.) - Doing stuff to keep yourself busy while avoiding what really needs to be done.” (@HipDict).

My procrastination comes to me in waves – building then dissipating over time. Although I must say, after having spent two plus years cooped up in our house, I am now achieving heights that I never expected.

OK, I admit it. I need help and promise that I will call my counselor as soon as I finish this newsletter.

NO EXCUSE - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SXsaCADHls

Aka The Procrastination Song

I was attending an ASCAP conference in Los Angeles in April of 2009. During one of the events, I met up with a group of Texas songwriters. During our conversations, we discussed all the reasons we were unable to write songs. After drinking a beer or two, we all agreed that we would go home and write a song called No Excuse. Immediately after I left the booth, the music for this song came to me. This was the first video we released to promote the Wings of My Heart CD and before we started producing lyric videos of all my new songs.

The MACT Groovy Awards awarded NO EXCUSE as "Music Video of the Year." Feel free to share this video featuring Jeff Hamilton, Cort Anderson, KD Hill, and Colette Hardin. Filmed, Directed and Edited by Troy Shaw (Shawtime Productions). Props provided by Gary & Ryan Seith. Chris Gage (Moonhouse Studios) engineered and produced No Excuse. The featured performers on the song are Glenn Fukunaga (Bass), Bruce Logan (Drums), Kristin deWitt (Vocals), Steven Bernstein (Sax) and Chris Gage (Guitars, Keyboards, & Vocals) with me on Vocals and Acoustic Guitar. The song was Mastered by Jerry Tubb at Terra Nova Digital Audio, Inc.

Patreon

You may be aware that, these days, the creation of videos and recordings of songs is not a money-making proposition. The costs for projects like these and other recordings are fully absorbed by me. Any revenue they produce doesn’t come close to covering these costs. Toward that end, I have set up a Patreon site as a place to join with friends, share my thoughts, songs, videos & so much more.

Please take a moment to check out my Patreon site and consider subscribing. Click on the link below. Thank you!
