SCOPE IT UP IN SEPTEMBER!

The start of the school year has been a launch point for youth and teens looking to give back in an area they are committed and connected to -- summer camp!

This week we highlight and celebrate some of these camp-passionate young philanthropists who have brought SCOPE into their lives and are doing their part to give the gift of overnight camp to those families who otherwise could not afford it!
MAMARONECK, NEW YORK
HIGH SCHOOL SCOPE CLUB
Junior Leadership Council
Heading into their third year, the SCOPE Club at Mamaroneck High School in NY was created by SCOPE Junior Leaders Caroline Silver (Camp Taconic) and Asher Berenblat (Camps Kenwood & Evergreen). By infusing their passion for camp in their school community they’ve found ways to engage and have fun, all while giving back to SCOPE.

The club started out with a bake sale to raise funds for SCOPE in addition to being a great way to spread awareness about their newly formed club. They pivoted their 2020 approach and organized a two-week virtual walk-a-thon with club members asking friends and family to sponsor them as they each walked to reach the club’s goal of sending one child to overnight summer camp for one week… and they succeeded! Two other successful fundraisers included a Chipotle dine and donate event and a March Madness bracket.

To help the club grow and give younger members larger roles, Caroline and Asher decided to create a Mamaroneck SCOPE Club Board this year. This smaller group will discuss and brainstorm plans so they are ready for next month’s club fair and the upcoming events of the school year. We look forward to their next big gives back ideas!
SPENCER AND RYAN BRODIE
Mitzvah Project
Within less than 24 hours of being home from their much-needed summer at Tyler Hill Camp, Spencer and Ryan Brodie decided that their joint Mitzvah Project should be directed towards helping others receive the gift of camp.

Their family reached out to SCOPE and soon after created their personal fundraising webpage with a goal of raising $10,000 to support SCOPE in order to help fund other children's camp experiences at one of SCOPE's nonprofit partner camps. They then invited loved ones and their entire camp community to support their efforts by making a donation towards Spencer and Ryan’s Better Together B’nai Mitzvah and/or fundraising with them on September 21 for the first Red Meat Lover's Club Event to support SCOPE in Delray Beach, Florida. We are beyond grateful for Spencer and Ryan’s efforts to give the gift of camp to less fortunate children and they crushed their goal, showing that support for SCOPE is better together!
Ramapo for Children, New York
SCOPE Northeast
Ramapo for Chidren's mission is to keep young people from being relegated to the margins of their schools, programs, families, or communities because of challenging behaviors, cognitive disabilities, or other differences.

Based on their 250-acre campus in Rhinebeck, New York, Camp Ramapo is a residential summer camp that serves children ages 6 to 16 who are affected by social, emotional, or learning challenges, including children on the autism spectrum.

At Camp Ramapo, they embrace children’s challenges, celebrate their strengths, and help them discover that they are capable of more than anyone believed.

We are proud of SCOPE Junior Leaders Emma and Sophie Ward who have focused their SCOPE fundraising efforts for the past three years to provide camperships at Ramapo!
SUMMER SOCIALIZATION
I feel strongly that Kaya's ability to attend YMCA Camp Chingachgook and explore socializing with others from all over gives her the ability to see things from different perspectives.
