Setting Sail Once Again!

After the longest pause in memory—18 months of not sailing with trainees—Pacific Grace was finally able to slip her lines with an eager group of students from the Quest program at Columbia Bible College! This is the first of four sailings planned between October 1-18—two with Quest program students and two with Kaleo (from Camp Qwanoes) program students.

All participants are fully vaccinated and rapid tested before departure, among other precautions. Yet in such close quarters there is never zero risk of COVID transmission, so please join us in praying for safe voyages—in all respects—and wonderful adventures and connections for these young people and our crew-members!

A New Aft Deck for the Swift

This past summer was busy with work in full swing on the Pacific Swift’s afterdeck rebuild – a project that has been a long time in the making! A few years ago, many generous donors came together to fund the purchase of the necessary timber. Now that that timber has had time to dry out in our shop over the past few years, we have moved on to the next phase of this massive undertaking: replacing the aft deck...

SALTS is Hiring!

Do you or someone you know have a passion for youth development, love spending time outdoors, and want to sail on board a tall ship? Apply now to work with us! Openings available for Watch Officer, Bosun, and Cook roles.

The ability to provide mentorship and Christian spiritual care to young people and a desire to participate in all aspects of shipboard life are required for these roles. Sailing experience is beneficial but not necessary for new crew members, as SALTS provides the pre-season and ongoing training needed to fulfill each role. Contracts begin January 2022 or earlier and continue through December 2022.

2022 Summer Sailing Season

General registration opens 10:00 AM November 6th We're looking forward with hope to a full sailing season in 2022! If you're between the ages of 13-25, we would love for you to join us. Find out more about dates, routes and registration for Summer 2022! Trainees who were registered to sail in the summer 2021 season will receive an email in Oct. about priority registration beginning Nov. 1st Want to raise the sails together? Register to sail!

While we are planning for a full sailing season in 2022, the safety of everyone involved is our top priority. All trips are subject to compliance with the orders and guidance of B.C.'s Provincial Health Officer, BCCDC, WorkSafe BC, Transport Canada, BC Parks and Parks Canada, as well as local First Nations and coastal communities. If significant changes are necessary, registered trainees will be given the option to change to another available trip or receive a full refund.

Reflections on the Crew Training Voyage

"After fourteen months tied to the dock, it was lovely to be back on the water... working the Pacific Grace as she was built to be worked; out there with an eager group of people, sail-training..." At the beginning of Summer 2021, the SALTS crew took to the seas for a month-long training voyage in preparation for sailing once again with trainees. Phoebe, one of our Bosuns, shared her experience of the trip with us.
