Egg-Ceptional Prices Leave Shoppers "Shell Shocked."

With Easter behind us, what does the current price of eggs tell us about the economy? And where does it go from here?

It can be pretty easy to find things to worry about in today’s economy. For example, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the average price of eggs increased by 60 percent in 2022. That means their price rose faster than almost any other good or service in a year characterized by painfully high inflation.1

Now, if you’re like us, a good scramble or omelet is nothing to yolk about.

Luckily, some egg-cellent research revealed that wholesale egg prices are projected to fall nearly 30% in 2023. If that prediction holds, it will put the average nationwide price of wholesale eggs at about $2.07.2

In other words, that initially scary statistic, although true, doesn’t mean the future is rotten. While it’s true that the rise in some of our most often-bought goods, such as eggs, has been significant, it’s essential to keep in mind that the overall economy is showing signs of stability.

Let us know if you’d like to chat more about inflation, the economy, or even your favorite way to poach an egg. We’re always happy to talk.

Sterling Spotlight

With only a little over three weeks left (as of the date of this publication) Nicole is about to wrap up her surrogacy journey. Planning to work until due date (May 7th) Nicole says she will be around the office until baby boy is ready to meet his parents.

"I feel so excited to complete this goal. This is something I have always wanted to do since having my own children - carry a child for a family who could not." - Nicole Eddy

With Nicole taking maternity leave next month, we thought we'd give her a break from the newsletter. Therefore, no May newsletter will be published. Nicole will be back on track in June!

Community Events

Outdoor activities take center stage this month with The Woodlands Arts Festival, Insperity Golf Tournament, and Ironman Texas, among others.

Events such as these have a huge economic impact on our region. Ironman Triathlon draws in about $13 million along with $100,000 in donations to local charities, while every ticket sold at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival directly impacts student art scholarships and microgrants for artists and educators.

Which local event will you support this month?

Take a look below for our favorites.

Community events are not sponsored by Sterling Total Wealth Solutions.

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival

April 14-16

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is one of the leading ways our community educates the public, and especially our youth, regarding culture, theater, music, and the vast art mediums available. Throughout the event, hundreds of artists are showcased, buying and selling, as they interact face-to-face with attendees.

This is, of course, Michael's favorite event. And not just because he is Treasurer on The Woodlands Arts Council.

"I am honored to be a member of the Woodlands Arts Council and have a small part in how this event's economic impact benefits our community year after year." - Michael Goodwin

Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas

Saturday, April 22nd

Nicole's favorite event of the year is Ironman Texas. In this triathlon athletes complete a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run completed in that order, a total of 140.6 miles.

Like many who live here, at first she was put-off by the traffic and lane closures. But, once she looked closer she was truly inspired. So much so she volunteers her entire Saturday each year to the event.

She says it is her favorite day of the year!

"I volunteer at different stations throughout the day and wrap it up at the finish line with the athletes and their families. It's like an all day party!" - Nicole Eddy

Insperity Invitational Golf Tournament

April 24-30

A PGA TOUR Champions event, the Insperity Invitational is a free public event taking place at The Woodlands Country Club featuring the world’s premier golfers age 50 and older.

The tournament has been recognized by many, including PGA TOUR Champions players, over the last two decades as a top event on the TOUR. The event is locked in our community for the next few years and brings with it recognition, visitors, and status as a premiere location for a professional tour. It has received multiple awards for its community impact. It's no wonder it is one of Gordon's favorite golfing events of the year.

"As an avid golfer, I've been to a lot of tournaments and played a lot of courses. It is great to see the pros come through our area and enjoy what The Woodlands has to offer." - Gordon Menard
