IN PERSON 2021 IFTJ Interest Form
Are you interested in attending the 2021 Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice (IFTJ) IN PERSON? We are looking to gauge the interest of JCU students for attending the conference in person this coming Fall 2021 semester.

The in-person portion of IFTJ would be from November 6-8, 2021 in Washington, D.C. There is also a virtual component included in the in-person package that takes place on October 16.

Our #MyMagisMessage for the week comes from Emily Slusarz, a first year Biochemistry and Cell & Molecular Biology major from Brook Park, OH! Emily has served with St. Martin de Porres After School Credit Recovery!

If you had to state your life mission off the top of your head, in one sentence, what would it be?
I want to give people a reason to smile, even on days where it may be hard.

#MyMagisMessage
Before John Carroll, I was incredibly involved in service. Every week I spent my time volunteering somewhere, whether that was at school or in the community. However, when the pandemic hit, I found it incredibly hard to get involved in service again. I struggled to do the things I loved, and I found it hard to be motivated to do anything for myself, let alone others.

When I joined CSSA, I was able to fall in love with service again. It is something I look forward to every week. Because of this, I find myself feeling happier and more content. The fact that I get to help others each and every week is a dream, and something I was unsure that I would ever find myself doing again. The students at St. Martin de Porres are all so kind, and I have learned so much from them, probably more than they have ever learned from me. Being able to work with such a diversity of kids has given me a different perspective on life.

I am so excited to continue my service experience throughout my next three years at John Carroll. Service here has helped me mentally grow into a person I love, and I can see myself growing and striving even further. I am so thankful for CSSA and for the opportunities I was given. I cannot wait to see what my next chapter is going to be!
