Restoration Projects Currently Underway

This Douglas TA-4j Skyhawk aircraft is presently snuggled into our restoration hangar undergoing its' first major facelift since arriving in 2010 as part of a package deal (all  pieces wrapped in one package but not necessarily in the correct place...). It's almost ready for final painting.  Also taking up residence in the hangar is a M151A1 (MUTT) Jeep, undergoing a frame up restoration.  We should have some exciting news coming shortly on several other new projects which you should find of great interest.

If you've ever thought about lending a hand on one of our restoration projects, we can always use the help. Just show up on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday morning to volunteer.  Experience not necessary, but a willingness to learn and have an enjoyable time, is required.

Woodland Auto Display Updates

Several things have been in the works these past few months other than the "possibility" of a new building  expansion.  I won't go into too much detail now but will give you a taste of what is coming down the pike.

Two of the Woodland Auto Display historical racing cars have been selected as part of a special "Salute to Ascot" display at California State University, Northridge.   If you are in that area, the display will run from mid August through October.

There will be numerous changes in the Woodland Auto Display the next time the doors open.  The cars destined to Calif State University, Northridge are being replaced by the a  (returning) 1941 Packard Woody Sedan Wagon which was one of the featured cars on My Classic Car and was recently on loan to a couple of regional shows.

You will find two new Sprint Cars, both excellent but one in particular has outstanding historical value.  It was built by the late Bruce Bromme Jr, formerly from Templeton, CA., and driven by one of the all time west coast greats, Dean Thompson.  This particular car ran for approx. 14 months in 1982/1983 and won an incredible 24 main events.  These two cars are both on loan to the Woodland Auto Display.

Last but far from least, we will be receiving on loan our first Silver Crown Car in the next couple of weeks.  (Silver Crown looks much like the old upright Indy cars or overgrown Sprint Cars and were designed to run on 1 mile tracks.)  Not only will it be the first one to be displayed at the Woodland Auto Display, it is the one that former NASCAR star, Jeff Gordon, won the championship in prior to switching to Stock Cars.

Needless to say, even when things look calm at Woodland Auto Display, there is usually a lot going on behind the scenes.
