Thoughts with Mr. Watts
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Hello St. Catharine Families:

As we close out the month of September, we have overcome many challenges this school year. October brings a new hope and new opportunities to grow as a school community.

October will include school pictures, an All-School Rosary, another school Adoration, two student retreats, a parent and school program on Christ-Centered Culture, and finally the end of the first quarter.

October brings a change in the weather and more opportunities to become closer to Christ as a school.

Education in Virtue
Our Virtue for this week is Gratitude. Gratitude is one of the related virtues of Justice.

Gratitude is a thankful disposition of mind and heart. Gratitude means expressing appreciation and not taking other people and things for granted.

Gratitude in Scripture
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. - Colossians 3:15-19

May God Bless all of you and your families during this time.

Yours in Christ,

Mark Watts

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe. - Hebrews 12:28
If anyone in your household would have a Positive COVID-19 test result, or if any student has knowingly been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, you must notify Mr. Watts by calling or texting (614) 949-7713 as soon as possible, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

We are required to post positive cases of students and staff on our website weekly. Currently, we have 0 active cases and
1 cumulative case with students and staff for the current school year.

One of the factors the Diocese is monitoring is the 7-Day Average Case Rate in Franklin County per 100,000. As of now, we are at 278 (down from 328). Once that number gets below 100 (like it was before school started), the Diocesan task force will make a decision on how to move forward.

Starting immediately we will be asking all families to send an email to attendance@stcathschool.com to report their student's absence. No need to call the office. This is a much more efficient way for our office staff to track attendance.

Please include:
  • Student's Name
  • Grade
  • Reason for absence
  • Symptoms
  • Date of return, if known
Picture Day is Monday, October 4 for grades 4-8 and Tuesday, October 5 for grades K-3. This is different from the Lifetouch website. We wanted to accommodate Gym Day and Picture Day.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

Volunteers are an invaluable group of individuals who provide a sense of community for the many parish and school activities at St. Catharine. It is the expectation of the St. Catharine Advisory Board that each parish family fulfills their obligation to actively support and participate in the parish and school. In addition, it is expected that parents volunteer their time and talent in helping with church and school-sponsored activities and programs. Such involvement is not only necessary for financial stability, but parents can provide a valuable service to the school and to the children by their dedication and support. In order that tuition rates may be kept at a reasonable level, parents are asked to volunteer for a minimum of 50 hours.

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart” ~Elizabeth Andrew
Registration opens Thursday, September 30 at 9 pm for Middle School and 10 pm for High School Registration.
