Shanell Varner Steps Into New Role
Cabarrus Economic Development is pleased to announce the promotion of Shanell Varner to the newly formed role of Economic Development Program Manager. Shanell joined the Cabarrus EDC team in 2019 where she originally held the position of Economic Development Coordinator.

The newly formed role will allow Cabarrus Economic Development to better serve existing businesses in our community by building out robust programs that will bring tangible resources and support to these companies.

Employee Training Grants
The Centralina Workforce Development Board provides funding to assist employers seeking to "skill up" their existing workforce as a result of changes to production processes or market demands.

Training grants are now available in increments of $10,000 for companies with 12-months of residence in North Carolina, and for incumbent workers with six-months or more on the job. Centralina Workforce Development Board works in partnership with the NCWorks Customized Industry Training Program, and third-party trainers to provide funding for job-specific training associated with an industry.
