WED releases Midwest Future Forum on Cryptocurrency

News Release - Williston Economic Development (WED) is pleased to announce it is releasing an online panel discussion about emerging innovations in economic development. The first Midwest Future Forum will premiere on Friday, September 3. The panelists will discuss the future of cryptocurrency in the Williston area. The moderator will be WED Executive Director Shawn Wenko. “We will be discussing a topic that is changing the global economy, cryptocurrency,” said Wenko. “The purpose of the forum is to help us understand more about cryptocurrency and to look towards the future.” Read More
Sun Country Airlines arrives in Williston

Williston Economic Development - Williston Basin International Airport (XWA) welcomed the first Sun Country Airlines flight SY 171 from Las Vegas, Nevada on the evening of Thursday, September 2, 2021. XWA and Williston Fire Department staff welcomed the incoming flight with a water salute on the tarmac and greeted flyers as they exited the plane. Anthony Dudas, XWA Airport Director, welcomed disembarking passengers and presented them with commemorative poker chips to celebrate the arrival of Sun Country Airlines at XWA. Read More

Vantis conducts 125 UAS Test Flights in North Dakota

News Release - Vantis is integrating Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System (NAS), with the goal of making the process repeatable, scalable, and economically viable. Testing and validation of Vantis, North Dakota’s statewide UAS network, is well underway with more than 125 UAS and 25 manned aircraft test flights completed on the network during the developmental testing stage. XWA Air Show September 11 at Overland Aviation

Williston Economic Development - The Williston Basin International Airport will host its first air show on Saturday, September 11 at the Overland Aviation tarmac. Gates will open at 7 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast from the Lions Club and Meg-A-Latte. There will also be airplane rides from Overland Aviation ($25 per person), kids activities and aircraft displays. The aerobatics air show will begin at 10 a.m.! Limited seating will be available. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the show!
