Fountain Valley School District and The Great CA ShakeOut

This morning, the FVSD Central Office Team and Elementary Schools participated in The Great CA ShakeOut, which you can read more about here

In addition to conducting regularly scheduled emergency drills, every fall season our schools participate in a full-scale simulation earthquake drill along with the rest of CA. This annual simulation allows us to review and update our disaster plans, procedures, and supplies, and to secure our spaces in order to prevent damage and injuries. FVSD Middle Schools will conduct their full-scale ShakeOut drills on October 27, 2022.

The safety of FVSD students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. If you would like to read more, please click here.

Respectfully,

Sneak Peek Into our Great ShakeOut Drills

Students and staff evacuate the buildings. They have books and quiet activities to engage in, while the emergency teams employ their disaster plan duties including: first aid, search and rescue, communications, supervision, and more.

Central Office EOC

An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is established in the Board Room at our District office building. We communicate with all school sites, the Maintenance and Operations facility, and our FV First Responders. Each location shares its status which is captured on maps of each school. Then the EOC deploys support to our sites. FVSD flip charts with Emergency Preparedness Procedures may be referenced for earthquake and other drills.

Emergency Backpacks and Supplies

Each classroom has a red emergency backpack with a class roster, emergency cards, supplies, food, blankets, and water for all students. On campus are additional backpacks and safety bins with first-aid kits, gloves, flashlights, radios, small tools, and more.

Safe at Home

There are ways you and your family can prepare for an earthquake at home. Please watch this short video on The Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety.

Safe Everyday

Posters and bookmarks will be distributed on each campus to remind us ways to be Safe Everyday. If we see something, we say something. We have safety plans in place, offer training to staff throughout the year, and maintain a strong partnership with both the Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach Police Departments.

WeTip

Anonymous Tip Line

FVSD is happy to announce our new Anonymous Reporting tip line. We have a dedicated phone line for FVSD that is manned 24/7. You can call or text the phone number, use the QR code, or the link on each school site's webpage to file a report. These tips are sent to the appropriate people to help ensure the safety of our students. If you need assistance regarding your child at school, please contact the teacher and/or principal directly.
