Political Decision Making Minor
The minor in political decision making is designed to accommodate the interests and the needs of students from a variety of majors who want to develop a coherent educational program in a sub-field of political science. This minor will provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand the methods by which citizens and elites arrive at solutions to political problems. The minor consists of one required course and four elective courses. It is one of eight minors offered by Political Science. Read more.

2024 Ohio State Law Fair

Join us for “24 Hours of Pre-Law” featuring the 2024 Ohio State Law Fair! With 100+ law schools, test prep companies, speakers, and other pre-law resources this is one of the largest law fairs in the Midwest. All events are free and open to all Ohio State students and alumni. Students are encouraged to pre-register using your Handshake account (on-site registration will also be available at the Law Fair). Before signing a lease, schedule an appointment with a SLS attorney for a thorough review. During your lease review, the attorney will explain your legal rights and responsibilities, highlight unenforceable terms, and answer any questions you may have. A lease is a binding legal contract, and for many students, it may be the first legal contract they've ever signed. OSU Votes is a nonpartisan, student-led initiative in the Office of Student Life that works to register, educate, and encourage other students to vote. Join OSU Votes on October 7 for a full day of voter registration tabling to get registered before the voter registration deadline. AU tabling event dates and locations. Conversation Partners Needed
Intercultural English Conversation Partners (IECP) is seeking undergraduate volunteers. Each volunteer is matched with an international graduate student who is studying in the Spoken English Program in preparation to be certified as a TA at Ohio State. Volunteers do not need any specialized background. The commitment is for one hour per week.

Spring Registration Begins Monday, October 14
Individual enrollment appointment dates vary. Check your Student Center via BuckeyeLink. Your enrollment appointment will be posted to your Student Center in the box titled, "Enrollment Information." In this box, click on the "details" link. Please check your "To Do" list in Buckeye Link and make sure you've completed all items. Failure to do so may prevent you from registering for spring courses. If you have not already done so, contact your advisor to set a time to review your planned course of study before your enrollment appointment opens.

Student Legal Services
Student Legal Services (SLS) is a non-profit law office that contracts with Ohio State to provide legal advice and representation to eligible students. SLS covers the legal issues that students typically face including off-campus housing, lease reviews, criminal misdemeanor charges, traffic citations, contracts, consumer credit/debt, employment, immigration/naturalization, name and gender marker changes, victims' assistance, wills and advance directives, notary, and more. SLS is not a university department and information shared with SLS staff is confidential. Funding opportunities include scholarships for arts and sciences majors who demonstrate financial need based on their FAFSA application. The Brazilian Experience:
Surveying Brazilian Culture Through Music & Education
Dive into to the music, culture, and educational systems of Brazil. After one week of study on the Columbus campus in May, the group will travel to Salvador, Bahia, and Rio de Janeiro. While in Brazil, students will engage in master classes, interactive music performances, observation of schools, and cultural experiences. This program is open to all undergraduate students. Research Funding to Enhance Resilience and Promote Well-Being
The Jeffrey Schottenstein Program for Resilience (JSPR) invites students and staff to apply for research and program awards up to $10,000. The awards are aimed at supporting programming to enhance resilience and promote well-being among young adults in Ohio. Examples of projects could include student organization activities aimed at increasing student belonging, research projects to increase wellbeing or optimize resources for young adults, or a general effort to promote resilience in the OSU community. Thriving in a Complex World: Coping With Current Events
Thursdays, 4 - 5 p.m., Virtual
Through social media, news outlets, and being a human in today’s world, we are constantly being exposed to the current events that are happening around us, and directly impacting us. This workshop aims to provide individuals with the recognition that the feelings and emotions you are having are real and valid. We will discuss the impact current events may have on your mental health, learn skills on mindful consumption of social media, what sustainable activism looks like, and ways to take care of oneself. Link to attend or register. Students are encouraged to pre-register in advance but are always welcome to drop in. Student organizations can also request this and other workshops for their event or meeting. Related resources and strategies for coping with current events.

Let’s Talk Consultations
Feeling lonely or homesick as you transition to (or return to) campus? Adjusting to your new roommate? Navigating relationships with family? These concerns are very common as the semester begins, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth talking about! Let’s Talk is a great option for students who may not need ongoing therapy but would like to chat with a mental health counselor about a specific concern for some brief problem-solving, resource linkage, or skill-building. Sessions can be scheduled online and are often available same-day or next day! Students can choose the counselor they talk with or take first available. This service is free and confidential.
