ALIGN celebrates the history, cultures, and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis in Canada. We also reflect on the discrimination, abuse, and trauma that have and continue to be faced by Indigenous persons in Canada. We continue to advocate for reconciliation and the equitable treatment of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit and Métis persons in Canada, particularly our children and youth in care.
Last week we sent out a Special Edition of CONNECTIONS
We hope you all have had an opportunity to check out the resources and can attend some events and learn more about Indigenous culture and traditions with the kids in your care!
NEW! In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, ALIGN Association has created a series of Indigenous Online Jigsaw Puzzles to support foster/kinship caregivers of Indigenous children and youth with activities that further their awareness of culture and traditions. Categories for all ages - from Tiny Tots through to adults AND 8 topics to pick from. Once you open each picture, you can select play as and PICK how many pieces you want to play with! Kids and adults will enjoy the beautiful details of the regalia, teepees, totem poles and more so even if you aren't able to get out and participate in an event today, you and the kids can spend some time honouring and celebrating by learning more about Indigenous culture and traditions. ENJOY!
