Leaf Collection Set For Tuesday & Wednesday

Leaves and yard waste will be collected this Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11 and 12. Leaves will also be collected on October 25 and October 26.

Residents living south of Skippack Pike will have their leaf and yard waste collected on Tuesday and those living north of Skippack Pike will have their collection on Wednesday.

Please click here for a map of the two collection areas

As a reminder, the Township's collection process does not involve vacuum trucks that clean up piles of loose leaves. Leaf piles cause safety issues, clog storm drains and block street sweeping. Thank you for bagging your leaves.

If your pickup is missed, you must call the Township the day of collection at 610-277-2400. This program is not available to private communities.

A Tip To Protect Trees From Deer Rub

Fall is here which means it is an important time to take steps to protect trees, especially young trees, against possible damage from “deer rub.”

This occurs when male deer rub against trees to remove velvet from their antlers. This can cause damage to all trees but young trees are particularly vulnerable as these trees have very thin bark which offers little protection to the tree’s vascular system.

The best way to guard against damage is to block of the trees with fencing or with grow tubes that can be purchased at hardware stores.

Leave The Leaves

Did you know that keeping your fallen leaves benefits your yard and supports pollinators and other invertebrates? Leaving the leaves provide a winter cover for moths, butterflies, snails, spiders, bees and dozens of arthropods. Leaving the leaves is important to sustaining the natural web of life.

Research has shown that lawns actually benefit from a thin layer of leaves. Leaves can also be piled up around ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials. Leaves provide valuable organic matter and build up healthy soil. A thick layer of leaves provides additional insulation against bitter cold weather, and can protect newly planted perennials. Click here to learn more
