A summer view of the Schoolhouse...
Summer Greetings from Lawrence Academy!

I hope you are all enjoying the days of summer and the long evenings punctuated by terrific sunsets and fun gatherings. We have been rewarded here by the LA campus, which remains quite stunning this time of year. We thank our Buildings and Grounds Team for the extraordinary work they perform each summer, much of it behind the scenes, as they pick up the pieces from the past school year and ready the campus for summer camp and the return of students in September. Their work is thoughtful and caring, and I know how very much we all appreciate their efforts to maintain the grounds you all embrace with fond memories.

We also wish to acknowledge the work and partnership the alumni office has had with Carol Figgins who has retired this year following many years at LA in her role on the Buildings and Grounds Team. Carol, an accomplished horticulturist, cared for the LA campus with love and dedication. She has also worked tirelessly to support the Alumni Class Tree Program and Memorial Tree Program. We will miss Carol as I know so many others will too. We will forever remain grateful as our grounds mature, representing her work throughout the years.

While we have taken some time off, too, we are busy planning for the year ahead. We are excited about the upcoming reunions June 10-11, 2022, for the classes ending in "2" or "7" and our opportunity to work with all of these classes again.

We are also moving forward with the Winterim 50th celebration planning for June 10th. We invite each of you to share your Winterim story and help document 50 years of experiential learning at Lawrence Academy. We know you have kept personal journals and have photos because your trip leaders have told us so! Please share your voices with this historic celebration.

We hope to be seeing more of you at some of our upcoming local gatherings in Groton and Boston this summer - check your email and our events page for details! We also hope you will consider joining the conversation as we continue our DEI Summer Series (details below) once again this year.

Finally, we are working on the fall Academy Journal and invite YOU to share your news and photos of your life events; what inspires you most at home, at work, or just for fun. We thank those who have shared so much with us as we are filled with pride to learn of your accomplishments, joyful moments, and milestone memories.

Rest up! We look forward to the year ahead when we can gather on campus for sporting events and celebrate our community in person, once again!

Sincerely,

Chief Advancement Officer
Lawrence Academy
P.S. Our deadline for submissions to the Fall Academy Journal is August 15th for a publish date of November 2021. Please submit your fun and inspiring news and photos to me at jlovejoy@lacademy.edu or Pru Glover, Program Manager for Alumni Advancement and Trustees at pglover@lacademy.edu.
Reunion June 10-11, 2022
All classes ending in 2 or 7

Reunion Planning 2022 has begun, and we are all very excited to be hosting a reunion on campus once again.

We will also celebrate the long-awaited and twice postponed Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, June 11th which we and the inductees are all looking forward to.

If you’d like to become involved in any way with your class reunion planning, we would welcome your support and interest. We are also forming a new committee to offer input as we plan reunion weekend with an eye to those activities that our alumni would most enjoy. If you have fun ideas and would like to share them, please join us! don't hesitate to get in touch with Jo-Ann Lovejoy (978 505-9261).
Winterim Turns 50, and we will be celebrating
with an event in 2022!

Calling all alumni, faculty,
and former faculty:
Dust off those Winterim journals
and open your photo archives...

We need your help to memorialize the moments, experiences, skills, work with visiting artists and experts, delayed flights, blisters, exploration, Winterim on-campus performances and creations, milestones, laughter, all of those quilts, lost luggage, sunburns, impact on your chosen career path, overturned boats, travel layovers, public service, adventures with food, indoor and outdoor challenges, working with young children, knowledge acquisition, community impact, joyful discovery, and getting to know people and places in the LA community and around the world that you would not have known otherwise as a result.

We invite you to send your stories, journal entries (edited as needed), memories, comments, videos, photos, postcards, and images of your prized souvenirs; you name it, we’d welcome it. Let us all tell the story together of one of Lawrence Academy’s most significant programs, which has withstood the test of time and continues to impact our community today.

Let the celebration begin...

Please send all submissions, comments, and questions to John Curran, current faculty member, Honorary Co-Chair Winterim 50, and Jo-Ann Lovejoy, Chief Advancement Officer at jlovejoy@lacademy.edu.
